وشهد المران غياب اللاعبين الدوليين بعد انضمامهم لمعسكر منتخب مصر الذي بدأ اليوم استعدادًا لمواجهة بلجيكا وديًا يوم 18 نوفمبر.

وكان البرتغالي روي فيتوريا قد ضم محمد عواد وعبد الله جمعة وحسام عبد المجيد وعمر جابر وإمام عاشور وأحمد مصطفى زيزو لمعسكر الفراعنة.

وفي سياق متصل، واصل نبيل عماد دونجا لاعب خط وسط نادي الزمالك الانتظام في أداء برنامجه التأهيلي الخاص به بعد إجراء عملية منظار الركبة.

وبدأ دونجا التدريبات بالركض حول الملعب في الربع ساعة الأولى، ثم أعقبها بتمرينات بالكرة.

وفي الإطار ذاته، أدى محمد طارق مدافع الفريق تدريبات فردية لزيادة معدلات لياقته البدنية، وذلك تحت إشراف أندريه فيليب مدرب الأحمال بتعليمات من فيريرا، الذي يرغب في إعداد اللاعب للفترة المقبلة.

وشارك محمد طارق أيضًا في تدريبات الجزء البدني مع باقي زملائه، ثم تمرن بالكرة.

وخضع محمود عبد الرازق “شيكابالا” صانع ألعاب الزمالك لجلسات علاجية تحت إشراف الجهاز الطبي للفريق بقيادة الدكتور محمد أسامة، إثر تعرضه لإصابة في الكتف أثناء مشاركته في المباراة السابقة.

وحصل شيكابالا على راحة من المشاركة في المران الجماعي، لكنه يؤدي تدريبات علاجية بشكل مستمر حتى تتلاشى الآلام المصاحبة للكدمة في الكتف.

But he relished the slow turn offered by a dry pitch at the Castle Ground to take three for 68 from 29 overs before Gloucestershire, led by former captain Taylor’s 89, recovered from 142 for six to close the first day on 286 for 9.The left-arm spinner was brought into the attack 75 minutes after the start and wheeled away in four productive spells. He briefly switched ends before lunch to claim his first victim and finish a promising innings by 19-year-old left-hander Chris Dent, who edged to slip.After lunch he ended a patient vigil by opener Kadeer Ali, who sliced a drive to mid-on after making 58 in just over three hours, and Panesar claimed his third wicket when Jon Lewis (32) was bowled heaving across the line having added 73 in 17 overs for the seventh wicket with Taylor.It was an important partnership, for Gloucestershire had looked in some trouble when the persevering Corey Collymore picked up two wickets in three balls. Taylor’s 89 came from 112 balls and included 12 fours as well as a six off Panesar, but no Gloucestershire batsman has yet scored a Championship hundred this season.

Kevin Campbell has now shared a concern that he has about Aaron Ramsey after Glasgow Rangers revealed some injury news on the midfielder.

The Lowdown: Minor knock

As confirmed by the Ibrox faithful, Ramsey missed their 1-1 draw away at Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend as he had a minor knock.

The Wales international also missed a recent bounce match against Premier League club Brentford, which resulted in a 2-2 draw.

With a big second leg against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Europa League coming up on Thursday night, and the Teddy Bears leading 4-2 from the reverse fixture, Giovanni van Bronckhorst will now be sweating over Ramsey’s fitness ahead of the clash.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Everton and Arsenal striker Campbell, who regularly features on Sky Sports, has since raised his concern with Ramsey due to his history with injuries:

“His injury record is always a worry, a problem.

“That was the gamble for Rangers. When a player starts to get into his 30s it takes them longer to recover. It doesn’t look good for Ramsey.

“It is only a loan until the end of the season though so Rangers haven’t invested loads of money.

“It’s important to remember injuries can happen to anyone though. It just feels doubly difficult when it’s a player of Ramsey’s quality and history of injuries.”

The Verdict: Worrying

Given his injury record, and the fact that he is not getting any younger at 31, it is always worrying when Ramsey has even the slightest of niggles.

The Light Blues will no doubt be hoping that he is fit enough to play a part against Dortmund, a team that he has won four times and scored against, and they can really use all of his European experience to help them get over the line.

Nonetheless, Ramsey himself will be looking to prove his fitness while out on loan from Juventus, so that he can potentially secure a move away in the summer.

What’s the story?

According to reports, Jesse Marsch’s side have tracked the Croatia international for two years now, and they initially came close to signing him back in the summer of 2020.

It is now suggested that Victor Orta and his recruitment team have continued to keep tabs on the defender and are finally ready to make their move.

However, while Leeds scouts have been present at some of his recent matches, they are likely to face competition from other Premier League clubs for his signature too.

Perfect signing for Marsch

Valued at a whopping £100m by CIES, a fee which would shatter Leeds’ club-record outlay, Gvardiol is very much emerging as one of European football’s brightest centre-back prospects.

In an analytics-based profile done on the 20-year-old by The Athletic, they noted: “When it comes to defending, Gvardiol looks to be well-trained in the aggressive Leipzig way. He is always active in getting tight to his man (defending intensity 99 out of 99). He is also above average in his frequency of ball recoveries and interceptions (79 out of 99), highlighting how much he likes to step out and read the play.”

Meanwhile, in a piece for BBC Sport earlier last month, journalist Izak Ante Sucic claimed that the defender is “built like a tank” and that those in his homeland liken him to Liverpool powerhouse Virgil van Dijk.

He said: “In Croatia we like to compare him to Virgil van Dijk, because he’s built that way (6 foot 1). He’s one of his role models in football and he’s also mentioned Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos – Ramos because he’s also one of those players who likes to score as many goals as he can.

“In my opinion, I think he can be as good as Virgil one day. When you see how he behaves on the field and off the field, he’s one of those guys where you’d say ‘he’s going to succeed’.”

The Van Dijk comparisons certainly paint a picture of just how highly-rated Gvardiol is, and given the Whites’ defensive troubles this season – they have conceded 68 goals in the Premier League, the most of any team – he could come in and have a huge impact.

Also, with his ability to play at both centre-back and left-back, the young Croatian offers a versatility which would be invaluable to Marsch, given both the club’s tragic injury record and the unconvincing performances of summer signing Junior Firpo.

It’s a move which would certainly have the Leeds manager delighted.

There was no recall, however, for Yousuf’s long time middle-order ally, Younis Khan, the selection committee and captain claiming he has not been “cleared” by the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt.In another significant move, Shoaib Malik, a limited-overs fixture in Pakistan sides for a number of years, has been dropped. Mohsin Khan, the chairman of selectors, was economical with his words when asked about the significance of Malik’s dropping. “Lack of form, lack of performance,” he told Cricinfo.Yousuf was retired from all cricket until recently in protest at an indefinite ban from selection the board had placed on him.
