A situação na tabela do Campeonato Brasileiro traz dores de cabeça a Zé Ricardo, que não vê o Botafogo engatar uma sequência de resultados positivos e já fala em “se afastar da zona perigosa”. No entanto, desde a estreia de Erik, há três rodadas, o técnico tem contado com atuações decisivas de seus pontas.
No recorte das três últimas partidas, Erik e Luiz Fernando foram os extremos do time de Zé Ricardo. Antes do meia-atacante cedido pelo Palmeiras chegar, Valencia e Rodrigo Pimpão vinham sendo as opções para o lado esquerdo do treinador, que sempre apostou em Luiz Fernando. O fato é que, o que se via, por diversos motivos, era uma inconstância pelos lados – um problema crônico e sublinhado em toda a temporada, diga-se.
Pela direita, Erik ainda não foi às redes, porém tem dado conta na função, inclusive com assistência contra o Cruzeiro, e sequer foi substituído por Zé. Já Luiz Fernando, pela esquerda, foi quem recebeu o passe de Erik e marcou diante da Raposa, ratificando a boa fase. A dupla certamente chega mais confiante para o próximo compromisso do Alvinegro, cujo adversário será o Fluminense, neste domingo, no Maracanã.
– Todo atacante trabalha para fazer gol, ajudar o Botafogo. O gol dá moral para mim e traz mais confiança para seguir ajudando o time – comentou Luiz, na zona mista depois do empate em 1 a 1 com os mineiros.
Por outro lado, Pimpão parece ter ficado para trás na corrida, pois, pela primeira vez, contra o Cruzeiro, não foi acionado por Zé Ricardo. O já citado Valencia e os garotos Ezequiel e João Pedro são outras opções, mas que não conseguem emplacar no Glorioso.
Portanto, será essencial que Erik e Luiz Fernando sigam em alta para cativarem todo o time, e o Botafogo se afaste de vez da parte inferior da tabela.

Jonny Bairstow has been handed his first Test call up after injury ruled Ravi Bopara out of the opening match against West Indies at Lord’s starting on Thursday. Bopara picked up a thigh injury during Essex’s Championship clash with Kent and has suffered another setback in trying to relaunch his Test career.Bairstow, who is a wicketkeeper-batsman but will not be required to have the gloves in the Test side, had gathered momentum in recent weeks after scoring two hundreds for Yorkshire this season and he struck a confident half-century for England Lions against the West Indians in Northampton. Over a 50-match first-class career he averages 46.37 with a highest score of 205.He has had a taste of international cricket with six ODIs and six Twenty20 internationals, playing a match-winning innings in each format when he hit an unbeaten 41 against India on his ODI debut and then struck 60 during the Twenty20 series against Pakistan in the UAE.Geoff Miller, the national selector, said: “Jonny Bairstow has put in a number of impressive performances both for England Lions and Yorkshire and has been working hard on the England Performance Programme over the last couple of years. He is an exciting young player who now has an opportunity to experience the Test environment.”Bopara will be left to rue the second untimely injury that has stalled his prospects of adding to 12 Test caps. He was in line for a recall against Sri Lanka earlier this year after Eoin Morgan was dropped but picked up a side strain which prevented him from bowling and Samit Patel was preferred with England keen for a fifth-bowling option in hot conditions.This time it appears that bowling has caused the injury after he went off following one over against Kent and although he batted with a runner, making 19 from No. 8, it soon became clear that his chances of making the Test squad were receding.”He’s got this grade one tear. He’s got to rectify that before we can revisit it,” Miller said. “He was very much part of the discussion, but as soon as the injury occurred we had to go somewhere else. He’s got to be fully fit to do himself justice and do a job for the side. On this occasion, this is not the case. He’s got to go away and put himself back in the frame.”Bairstow replaces Samit Patel from the side that levelled the series against Sri Lanka in Colombo in April, which was England’s only Test victory of a disappointing winter to leave them clinging to the No. 1 ranking by a fraction of a point ahead of South Africa, who they play later this season. A partida deste domingo entre Botafogo e América-MG chegou a sofrer duas alterações de horário. Primeiramente passou das 11 horas para as 19 horas; depois, a pedido da diretoria do Alvinegro, voltou para a manhã. A crença é de que o público pode vir a ser maior, e apoiar o time. Mas a verdade é que jogar nessas circunstâncias nunca deu sorte ao Glorioso.
O tal horário de 11 horas aos domingos foi aplicado pela CBF a partir de 2015, e o Botafogo vem atuando nestes horários desde a Série B daquele ano. E jamais venceu. Ao contrário: coleciona decepções, como o empate sofrido no último lance do duelo contra o Paraná, há pouco mais de um mês, na estreia de Zé Ricardo.
No caso desta partida, foram dois pontos deixados no caminho, assim como em outras ocasiões. Mais do que os giros do ponteiro do relógio, para Rodrigo Lindoso a atenção e a concentração precisam ser mantidos sempre.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has banned Shah Rukh Khan, the Kolkata Knight Riders owner, from entering Wankhede Stadium for five years as a result of his scuffle with security guards after the game between Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians on May 16. The IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla, however, said the ban was not final until the BCCI had its say on the matter.”The MCA managing committee is forced to ban Shah Rukh Khan from entering Wankhede Stadium for a period of five years,” Vilasrao Deshmukh, the MCA president, said in Mumbai. “It was a unanimous decision. It applies to any match whether domestic or international at the Wankhede. We have taken a decision to protect the dignity of our association. BCCI is our parent body and we have written to them informing what had happened. We have no control over BCCI’s decision. We are also an independent body with the Wankhede being our property.”If rules are violated, action will be taken. It does not depend who the individual is. It’s a message to everyone, whosoever he or she may be, that stern action will be taken if there is any misbehavior. How can he go inside the ground without proper accreditation? Even I can’t go inside the ground if not invited for presentation ceremony.”Shukla said only the Indian board could make the final decision. “State bodies can only recommend but a final decision has to be taken by the BCCI. When the matter comes to BCCI, the board will decide [on the ban].”The incident took place after Knight Riders had beaten Mumbai Indians. Shah Rukh was accused of trying to walk on to the field of play after the game and MCA officials lodged a complaint against him the Marine Drive police station. They also said he had been drunk and abused officials.Shah Rukh, however, denied being drunk and said he was reacting to the “obnoxious” and “unpardonable” behaviour of officials at the stadium. He said he had not been present at the match but had gone there after it was over to pick up a large group of his children and their friends. Shah Rukh said he saw security guards manhandling the children and when he objected a group of officials came over and the altercation started.

Kamran, who last played for Pakistan in the 2011 World Cup, was cleared by the PCB’s integrity committee earlier this month.Batsman Imran Nazir, who last played for Pakistan in February 2010, and allrounder Abdul Razzaq have also made the squad for both tournaments. None of these three players has a central contract.”Each player in the side has a role and has been selected accordingly,” Iqbal Qasim, Pakistan’s chief selector, told ESPNcricinfo. “Razzaq and Imran are utility players and can make a difference. Asad Shafiq has been picked following his solid Test series in Sri Lanka, during which he scored two half-centuries and a hundred in five innings. He has scored 192 runs in 10 Twenty20 internationals for Pakistan.Opener Nasir Jamshed is also back, after recovering from a fracture of the index finger that ruled him out of the Sri Lanka tour. He is one of four openers in the squad, along with Nazir, Kamran and Hafeez.Speaking after the news of his selection broke, Jamshed said was looking forward to the competition among the openers. “Winning back the opportunity [to play for Pakistan] is always hard, and I am glad to have [my place] back. I have recovered [from the injury] and am sensing tough competition for the opening slot. Junaid, still in his second year of international cricket, bounced back from a heel injury to pick up 14 wickets – including two five-fors – in the recent Tests against Sri Lanka.Also to suffer is the highly-rated allrounder Hammad Azam, who has lost out to Abdul Razzaq. Azam seemed to have answered the selectors’ call for a new allrounder in 2010, when he was picked in the national squad for the World T20, but his growth has been hampered by inconsistent selection.
