Celtic were linked with a summer move for ADO Den Haag defender Milan van Ewijk earlier this month.

Reports from the Netherlands claimed that the Hoops, along German trio Schalke, Hamburg and Darmstadt and Belgian side Gent, were all keen on the 20-year-old.

Voetbal International, cited by Sport Witness, has now provided an update on the situation. They claim that Celtic, who have ‘expressed their interest’ over van Ewijk, will now have to move quickly if they want to get him.

That’s because Dutch side Heerenveen are now ready to move for the youngster to fill their right-back void.

It seems as if a new right-back is required at Parkhead this summer after Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Elhamed left earlier this year.

Voetbal International have labelled van Ewijk’s development as ‘stormy’ and describe the youngster as ‘one of the few bright spots’ at the club.

The right-back, who has also played as a centre-back, has missed just 51 minutes of Eredivisie action this season.

He currently holds a £675,000 Transfermarkt valuation and is out of contract in June 2022, so, if the Hoops are quick, they may well land an exciting talent who appears to be getting better with each passing month.

David Moyes must address Jarrod Bowen’s concerning rate of regression with the West Ham United forward on a persistent decline this season.

Bowen has proven to be a crucial cog in the Irons system all term, with the former Hull City winger featuring in all 26 Premier League fixtures and starting 23 of his outings to date.

Only Tomas Soucek (8) and Michail Antonio (7) have also scored more often in the top-flight for the Irons than Bowen (5), who is without a goal in his last seven appearances and is bordering on his longest drought all campaign – eight games.

And, off the ball, Bowen is beginning to flounder and he was benched for Pablo Fornals to take his place on the right-flank against Manchester City on Saturday. The energetic Spaniard shone at the Etihad Stadium to emerge as the Hammer’s silver lining in the 2-1 defeat.

Bowen’s defensive decline also concerns Kevin Phillips, with Wyscout data (as cited by Football Insider) showing that only three players across Europe’s top-five leagues allow the opposition to make a higher number of progressive passes than the £25m-rated maestro.

In a side that Moyes prides on its defensive discipline, Phillips does not believe there is room for Bowen to be carried by the likes of right-back Vladimir Coufal and midfield star Declan Rice.

“Stats don’t lie,” the 1999/2000 European Golden Boot winner told Football Insider. “In possession, he’s great. But ultimately, out of possession, you’ve got to know your positions, you’ve got to know when to press, you’ve got to know where to show someone and where not to show them.

“If you don’t get it quite right at this level, you get punished. It’s no surprise because he’s more of an offensive player, defending is not his main duty. But we all know that nowadays you’ve got to be able to do both.

“So that will be an area they’ll want to improve. These coaches know that. They’ll look at the stats. It’s certainly an area that he needs to learn, the young kid. That will get better as time goes on, particularly under Moyes, who is a fantastic coach.”

It is not only in the volume of progressive passes that he allows that shows that Bowen has been struggling defensively, with the 24-year-old performing at a worse standard this term than during his first half-season at the London Stadium in an array of areas.

The £22m January 2020 signing is currently offering Moyes fewer successful (0.7) and attempted (1.2) tackles per game in the Premier League than he did following his winter arrival last season (1.5/2.5), as well as fewer interceptions (0.6 to 1.2), per WhoScored.

Bowen has further made just two successful tackles in his last six top-flight appearances – both coming against Tottenham Hotspur – and offered two interceptions in that period – each coming at home to Liverpool.

The £96,000-per-week star has been lacking offensively, too, with just three key passes, two shots and two successful dribbles during his last six league outings combined.

Those displays have also resulted in an average WhoScored match rating of 6.34 – including two 6 out of 10s – to bring his seasonal average down to 6.72, the 11th-best at the London Stadium and behind £45m flop Sebastien Haller (6.75) who was sold for £20m in January.

Moyes will need to address Bowen’s concerning rate of regression, both on and off the ball, if the forward is to re-establish his place in the West Ham starting line-up.

كشفت تقارير صحفية إنجليزية أن مدرب فريق تشيلسي توماس توخيل قد يلجأ إلى معاقبة المهاجم روميلو لوكاكو عن طريق استبعاده من مباراة اليوم ضد ليفربول.

ويلتقي الفريقان مساء اليوم في قمة منافسات الجولة الحادية والعشرين من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، على ملعب ستامفورد بريدج.

وتأتي تلك المباراة بعد يومين من التصريحات الجدلية التي أدلى بها لوكاكو، والتي أكد من خلالها أنه لم يكن راغبًا في مغادرة إنتر ميلان خلال الصيف الماضي، وأنه ليس سعيدًا حاليًا في تشيلسي.

وصرح توخيل، أمس الأول، أن هناك إمكانية لفرض إجراءات تأديبية على لوكاكو بسبب إجراء مقابلة صحفية دون الحصول على تصريح.

وحسب صحيفة “تليجراف” الإنجليزية، فإن توخيل قد يلجأ إلى استبعاد لوكاكو من مباراة اليوم ضد ليفربول، كنوع من العقاب.

وأشارت إلى أن توخيل قد لا يكتفي بالإبقاء على لوكاكو ضمن البدلاء أمام الريدز، بل ربما يستبعده تمامًا من قائمة البلوز المستدعاة للمباراة.

أصرت مصادر مقربة من لوكاكو على أنه لن يتطلع إلى ترك تشيلسي في فترة الانتقالات هذا الشهر، لكن توخيل لم يخف استيائه من اللاعب الدولي البلجيكي.

وأفادت أنه من المفهوم أن توخيل تحدث مع لوكاكو فيما يتعلق بتلك المقابلة، ويبقى الآن أن نرى ما إذا كان الألماني قرر حظر اللاعب لمدة مباراة كعقاب له، أم أنه اكتفى بتوبخيه في غرفة الملابس.

وأكدت أنه أيًا كان ما سيقرره توخيل، فمن المرجح أن يحظى بدعم إدارة النادي التي صُدمت من مقابلة لوكاكو، وكانت غاضبة من إجرائها سرًا في منزل اللاعب.

وأوضحت أن تشيلسي كذلك قد يفرض غرامة مالية على لوكاكو لإجراء مقابلة صحفية غير مصرح بها.

But such has been the incredible start that Dean Smith’s side have enjoyed, that they find themselves in sixth place in the table, and only three points behind current leaders Leicester – that too, with a game in hand on the Foxes.

On Saturday, Villa return to top-flight action after the two-week international break, with Graham Potter’s Brighton standing in their way. Smith has largely gone for a settled side this season, and who can blame him, but he might want to freshen things up against the Seagulls.

And with that in mind, below is a look at how the Midlands club line up for the visit of Brighton.

After helping to keep a clean sheet against his former side last time out, Emiliano Martinez will hope to continue his impressive start to life at Villa.

In front of him, a back four of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Matt Targett have played a crucial role in ensuring high-scoring Villa have also been one of the meanest teams in the league too. Their tally of just nine goals conceded from their opening seven league games is the joint-best in the division.

The first big call Smith must surely consider making, is the dropping of John McGinn. The Scotland international has looked nothing like his old self, and with Marvelous Nakamba waiting in the wings to make his mark, this could be the perfect time for that change to happen.

Douglas Luiz on the other hand continues to see his star grow, but has played an incredible number of minutes this season for both club and country, and Smith may wonder if a rest against Brighton could do the £24.3m-rated star the world of good when it comes to the crunch winter schedule in the Premier League.

If that’s the case, Conor Hourihane may fancy his chances of making a rare start after playing in mid-week for the Republic of Ireland.

In attack, there’s no reason to make any changes for Smith, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Ross Barkley, Trezeguet and Ollie Watkins all in fine fettle this season.

وكان مبابي قد صرح من قبل أنه قد طلب من إدارة باريس سان جيرمان الموافقة على رحيله إلى ريال مدريد خلال شهر يوليو الماضي ورفضوا بعد ذلك عرضًا من ريال مدريد مقابل 180 مليون يورو.

The Daily Express is reporting that Daniel Levy refused to sell Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele for anything less than £54m during the summer.

Ndombele made the move to Spurs from Lyon last year, costing the club around €60m (£53.8m).

After a disappointing first season with the Lilywhites, there were rumours the France international could leave – Internazionale were linked with a move for him. However, tough negotiator Levy refused to let him go for anything below £54m. As such, he remained in north London for the new campaign.

Mourinho trusting Ndombele

In his first campaign at the club, the 23-year-old struggled. He made just 29 appearances in all competitions, and he was heavily criticised by Mourinho. Had he left, his departure would have been far from surprising.

This term, though, he has worked his way back into Mourinho’s plans, even standing out as one of the manager’s key men. He has been involved in all  five Premier League matches so far, and has been on the end of plenty of praise from the club’s supporters and the manager himself. Finally, he is starting to show why Spurs spent a club-record fee to sign him – and it seems that Levy’s tough stance is to thank for that.

Leeds United’s transfer window has been incredibly exciting.

The Whites have signed some absolutely massive names, breaking their transfer record on a Spain international (Rodrigo), while also bringing in a La Liga regular (Diego Llorente) and a German international (Robin Koch).

However, at the beginning of the summer, we weren’t expecting these types of moves.

Indeed, Phil Hay’s initial report on United’s transfer plans ahead of this season stated that the bulk of the club’s business would be centred around signing the best players from the Championship, but as of yet, we’ve not seen any activity that backs that up.

With Hay being one of the most well-connected journalists covering Leeds, we believe that there is at least an element of truth to his report, and if United had a number of Championship players on their radar, they could do worse than reverting back to that original plan if deadline day doesn’t go their way.

If Leeds fail to bolster all the areas they want to strengthen on Monday, they still have until October 16th to do deals with EFL clubs, and that could be a handy extension for the Whites, especially if they have done a lot of scouting and analysis on some top Championship players.

Todd Cantwell, Said Benrahma and Emi Buendia are three that have been linked previously, and with those players yet to leave either Norwich or Brentford, the Whites may yet swoop before the domestic deadline later this month.

Of course, this may largely be dependent on whether or not deadline day goes Leeds’ way, at the moment it looks as though they’re going to sign a winger in the shape of Raphinha, but as the Michael Cuisance deal showed last week, anything can happen with these deals.
