ScorecardDerbyshire captain Billy Godleman continued his recent impressive run of form with 95 to steer his side to respectability on the opening day of the Division Two match against Glamorgan at Derby.Godleman, who had scored a century and 71 in his previous four innings, passed 4000 first-class runs for the county as Derbyshire made 251 with their former seamer Graham Wagg taking three wickets.Timm van der Gugten also claimed three wickets and in reply, Glamorgan were 20 without loss when bad light ended play early.Derbyshire’s previous home game had been a batting feast with more than 1300 runs scored but conditions here provided help for the bowlers throughout with the floodlights on from ball one.Given the overcast skies and a green tinged pitch, it was no surprise the toss was uncontested and Tom Lace had already been dropped in the slips before he shouldered arms and lost his off stump to one that came back a long way from van der Gugten.van der Gugten also saw Wayne Madsen put down at point before he had scored in the same over but he clipped Michael Hogan tamely to mid-wicket and when Alex Hughes was caught behind trying to withdraw his bat, Derbyshire were wobbling at 50 for 3.Godleman was beaten several times but showed typical determination along with an awareness of any movement in the media centre to ensure his team posted what looks a competitive total.Gary Wilson shared a stand of 52 but was lbw playing no shot to the last ball of the morning to give David Lloyd his 50th first-class wicket and Matt Critchley batted positively until he played across the line at Hogan.Kieran Bull, in his first game for three years, was rewarded for an impressive spell of controlled offspin when Harvey Hussein was lured down the pitch and after tea was taken early because of rain, former Derbyshire allrounder Wagg had Martin Andersson lbw on his Championship debut following his loan move from Middlesex.Godleman had been in for 270 minutes but with a century beckoning, he dabbed at a wide ball from Wagg and was caught behind.Wagg quickly pinned Lockie Ferguson lbw but Tony Palladino and Ravi Rampaul guided Derbyshire to an unlikely second batting point before Glamorgan were left with 13 overs to negotiate.It was always likely to be an awkward period for the openers but they survived six overs before bad light ended play with Glamorgan 231 runs behind.

  Hazard had a nightmare few years with Real Madrid, scoring just seven goals before leaving the club at the end of the 2022-23 season, a year before his contract was due to expire. He attracted criticism for being out of shape and was plagued with multiple injuries. Yet the former Belgium international claims that he did not regret joining Los Blancos as it was his dream to play under his idol Zinedine Zidane.

  In an exclusive interview with , the ex-winger said: "It was my dream. I can tell you it was my dream even if the story was not that good with injuries and this and that. When I look back, and you can see some pictures of me wearing the white Real Madrid shirt, it makes me proud."

  A few months after leaving the Spanish club, the 33-year-old announced his retirement from professional football despite having offers from the Saudi Pro League and MLS.

  When asked if he could have played for a little longer, the former Blues star said: "Good question. I think so, but I decided playing football was over because I had a lot of injuries, and I have no regrets."

  He added: "I enjoy it a lot. I miss my football a bit, especially being with the lads in the dressing room, but I can do what I want now. I have kids and a family. I can go to Belgium to see my family, brothers and parents. I can do a lot of things."

It's fair to say that Rangers have had a frustrating start to the season in the Scottish Premiership, already sitting four points behind Celtic, having lost two of their opening four games, including the most recent Old Firm derby.

On top of the league results, Michael Beale's side were also smashed 7-3 on aggregate by PSV Eindhoven in Champions League qualifying to end their hopes of competing among Europe's elite this season.

The Gers' start has put pressure on Beale to turn things around and prevent Celtic from winning a third consecutive Scottish Premiership. Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has delivered a damning new claim on the manager, however.

What did Frank McAvennie say?

Speaking to Football Insider, when asked how many games Beale has left to turn things around at Rangers, McAvennie said: "Just a few games, if anything. People are saying they have got to get him out now because they can’t have another season winning nothing.

“They have got the League Cup to go for, that could be his saving grace, whether that is going to pacify the fans because it was not Rangers that put Celtic out. The break has come at a good time for them.

“After getting battered by PSV I thought the best game to come back in would be a big game against your rivals with 50,000 fans behind you and they put in a performance like that, that is why fans are annoyed.“

Of course, it is worth noting that, when it comes to Rangers, the opinion of a former Celtic striker is likely to be taken with a pinch of salt, rather than a serious verdict on Beale's future. But, the manager's start to the season has been poor, and there's no doubt that the pressure will begin to mount and their former rival's words hold some truth.

Should Rangers sack Michael Beale?

Just four games into the season, sacking Beale would be a harsh decision from Rangers, who may not even find themselves an adequate replacement in the current managerial market – the current trendy link is Birmingham City's John Eustace.

The former Queens Park Rangers boss has lost twice in four Scottish Premiership games, but given that one of those came against a tough Celtic side, he deserves time to turn things around.

What will disappoint those at Ibrox is the manner in which Rangers were dumped out of the Champions League, smashed 7-3. It must be said once again, though, that PSV were no easy test, and the Gers were always the underdogs in that fixture.

It is worth remembering that Beale only became the Rangers manager in November of last year, which means that he has had less than a year in charge. So, if Rangers did sack him now, they would be doing themselves no favours – they would only be restarting the process that Beale has been attempting to get going since last season.

That's not to say that he hasn't overseen some disappointing results as of late, but defeat against the champions and one of the best Dutch teams should not warrant the sack.

Fulham have made an approach over a move for Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata after a transfer elsewhere fell through.

Are Fulham signing a striker?

Marco Silva’s side have endured a mixed start to the new Premier League season after a 1-0 opening weekend win over Everton was followed by a 3-0 home defeat to Brentford.

The Cottagers have been without star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic after his £50m move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal, with the forward netting a header on his debut.

Fulham, as a result, appear to be on the hunt to replace Mitrovic before the September 1 deadline despite bringing in Raul Jimenez from Wolves and have been linked with a move for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

However, the USA international appears to be edging closer to a move to AS Monaco. Another player who had been linked was Juventus’ Moise Kean, however, Silva has squashed that rumour while also laying out his concerns late in the window.

“No, Moise Kean is not a solution for us. I don’t like to talk about players that are not our players. Moise Kean is a player from Juventus. But I can confirm he is not the player we are looking for.”

“With more time it would be less difficult. Right now, at this moment in the mark, it is really difficult. This is the problem when you leave things for the last week of the market. We are not in the best position.”

The club’s search for a striker now appears to have led to interest in Zapata.

According to The Daily Mail, Fulham have been in contact over a transfer for Zapata by approaching Atalanta. The report states that the striker was set to make the move to AS Roma on loan but expressed doubts and the deal fell through at the 11th hour.

It is believed that Zapata is leaning towards staying at Atalanta, however, Fulham appear to be keen and have made their first move.

Who is Duvan Zapata?

Zapata is an out-and-out centre-forward who has plied the majority of his club career in Italy. The 32-year-old has turned out for Napoli, Udinese, Sampdoria and Atalanta over the last 10 years, making 283 appearances in Serie A, scoring 108 goals.

A Colombia international, Zapata is known for his physicality, with former teammate Papu Gomez describing the forward as a “beast” who is “like a train”.

“Zapata's shorts look like underwear, he is so big.

“Sometimes I don't even want to get close to him in a match because he's a beast and it hurts. When he is feeling good he's like a train – you throw the ball forward and 'ciao!'”

A proven and experienced goalscorer in Italy, a move for Zapata could be one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window, but with time ticking, you’d expect Fulham will be in contact with a number of targets over potential moves to Craven Cottage.

وكان الأهلي قد نجح في التأهل إلى المباراة النهائية من بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا بعد تخطي عقبة مازيمبي الكونغولي، فيما تأهل الترجي على حساب منافسه ماميلودي صن داونز الجنوب إفريقي.

Embora ainda esteja em fase de elaboração, o projeto já foi objeto de conversas entre as direções da organizada e do clube. A intenção, segundo o líder da torcida, é que o dinheiro não passe nem pelo clube, nem pela Gaviões, e vá direto para a Caixa, com quem a dívida do financiamento está em vigência.

-A ideia é fazer uma vaquinha virtual. Estamos tentando chegar no responsável da Caixa, porque nossa ideia é que o dinheiro não vai passar pela torcida nem pelo clube, vai direto para o pagamento do financiamento. Estamos no caminho certo, vai dar tudo certo. A torcida do Corinthians vai fazer historia mais uma vez – contou Digão ao GE.

Em busca de deixar o processo da forma mais transparente possível e fazer com que os corintianos possam se engajar ao projeto, o presidente da Gaviões quer instalar no Parque São Jorge uma espécie de “Impostômetro”, painel que fica no centro histórico da cidade de São Paulo e mede o valor total de impostos pagos pelos brasileiros pelo período de um ano em tempo real.

– Não tem aquele negócio dos impostos (“Impostômetro”), no centro de São Paulo? A gente quer ter uma parada dessas no Parque São Jorge para todo mundo ver o tanto de dinheiro que está entrando e para o que é. Quando nosso povo olhar que a parada é transparente e o dinheiro vai direto para a Caixa, a coisa vai funcionar.Fizemos até as contas, daria uns R$ 18 para cada torcedor. Se a gente conseguir pagar a Arena, o Corinthians vira uma potência mundial- disse o presidente da organizada corintiana.

Atualmente, a dívida do Corinthians com a instituição financeira é de R$ 530 milhões, que foi executada no ano passado. Acontece que há divergência de valores entre as partes e por isso estão há meses tentando uma renegociação.

Segundo o GE, na reunião entre os representantes da torcida e da diretoria do clube, a Gaviões também ofereceu ajudar na limpeza e na manutenção do estádio. Caio Campos, superintendente de marketing do Timão, elogiou a atitude da organizada, mas adota cautela por conta dos detalhes burocráticos.

-É muito legal a iniciativa da torcida e sabemos como funciona, eles estão ali para ajudar sempre, mas tem todas as questões burocráticas para serem analisadas antes de fazer acontecer – declarou o dirigente ao GE.

Digão também é cauteloso em relação a todo o processo, uma vez que haverá eleições no clube no fim de novembro, que deverá mudar a configuração da diretoria atual a partir de janeiro do próximo ano. Mesmo assim, ele diz que o intuito é dar início ao projeto de qualquer forma, com ou sem o aval do clube.

– Tem que ter parceria com a diretoria nova, fazer um laço entre torcida organizada e também o povo que vai para o jogo e não é da organizada. Se for uma diretoria transparente, mostrando tudo, o Gaviões vai estar junto – disse o presidente da Gaviões, antes de completar:

– Depende muito do clube, mas vamos fazer de qualquer jeito. Só estamos esperando passar essa parada da pandemia, mas no começo do ano vamos meter marcha. Colocamos na cabeça o projeto e estamos falando com corintianos ilustres para viabilizar. A parada até arrepia, quem é corintiano de verdade se emociona – concluiu Digão.
