"Delete this" – Arsenal fans annoyed by star striker’s latest tweet

[ad_pod ]

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has antagonized sections of the Arsenal support on Twitter after welcoming new Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic to the Premier League with a heartfelt message.

The two attackers struck up a dynamic partnership during a shared spell at Borussia Dortmund, overlapping at the Signal Iduna Park from 2016 until January 2018 when Aubameyang departed the Bundesliga for Arsenal.

Pulisic signed for Chelsea in January 2019 but finished the season at Dortmund before joining the Blues in London, reuniting the two players in England, albeit for arch-rival clubs.

Aubameyang has enjoyed a stunning first full season at the Emirates, notching 22 Premier League goals to share the golden boot with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Despite Aubameyang’s goalscoring exploits, Arsenal still failed to finish in the top four and must win the Europa League final against Chelsea on May 29 to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

With the Gunners’ biggest game of the season against Chelsea on the horizon, many Arsenal fans were not amused by their star striker’s words of encouragement for the Blues’ newest recruit.

Arsenal: Promoting Freddie Ljungberg to the first-team backroom staff would be smart

Sometimes bringing in a familiar face could be an astute piece of business and Arsenal could be the latest club to find that out.

With all things considered, Unai Emery has done reasonably well with the Gunners in his first season in charge, however, there will be pressure on him to deliver the Europa League next week and improve on things as a whole next year.

Steve Bould has been the Spaniard’s right-hand man during his first campaign and it could be argued that he could not have been a better person to learn from about the club and the task at hand.

But, it would seem the same problems still exist in north London following Arsene Wenger’s departure last summer.

The defence is still rather shambolic and embarrassing to say the least. For a club competing for a place in the top-four, conceding 51 goals is hardly good enough.

And, it seems that a change could be on the horizon within the backroom staff, with Football.London claiming Freddie Ljungberg could be promoted up the ranks.

A legendary figure, the Swede has been working with Arsenal’s Under-23s this past year and has helped guide them to a second-place finish behind Everton in their developmental league.

What has caught the eye of many is the way of play that Ljungberg has set his players up with, whilst he has seen a number of bright prospects continue to knock on Emery’s door for a potential first-team opportunity.

Not many will have the experience and knowledge that he has of Arsenal and that is something that the current boss could look to use in his backroom staff, whilst there would still be a link between him and how well the academy players are coming through as he knows how well those men have been developing.

If the Gunners look to move on, or partner Bould with someone else, then promoting Ljungberg could be considered a piece of smart business.

Arsenal fans, would you like to see Ljungberg in the first-team coaching set-up? Let us know below!

Lacazette simply must step up in Aubameyang’s absence

[ad_pod ]

Arsenal could be set for another major blow, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a doubt for their trip to Leicester City this weekend, per Sky Sports.

What’s the word?

The Gabon international missed the encounter with Wolves on Wednesday as the Gunners fell to a dismal 3-1 defeat.

He has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season but the report claims that the Gunners star is a major doubt for the encounter at the King Power Stadium.

Per the aforementioned report, Aubameyang underwent a sinus procedure and will be assessed ahead of the game with Leicester.

Unai Emery’s men have lost seven games on the road this season and will need to rectify that form if they are to qualify for the Champions League this season.

As it stands, Arsenal are fifth, one point behind Chelsea and four behind third-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

The responsibility falls on Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette, valued at £58.5 million by Transfermarkt, needs to step up if Aubameyang is absent.

The France international has not scored in his last three outings, all three of which have been defeats, to Everton, Crystal Palace and Wolves. He was on the bench for the 1-0 win over Watford.

With the 27-year-old out of form, the fitness of Aubameyang could be decisive.

Lacazette, then, needs to step up and recover the eye for goal that saw him net five times in six outings between January and February.

Otherwise, the Gunners are set for another major setback.

Watford fans on Twitter were left in awe of sublime Deulofeu

Yesterday saw millions of viewers tune in to watch the second FA Cup semi-final of the weekend and they’d all have been hoping for it to be a better game than the one they’d watched 24 hours previously. Watford and Wolves didn’t disappoint either, as Gerard Deulofeu helped the Hornets sting Wolves with an incredible performance from the bench.

If you’re reading this and haven’t yet had a chance to watch the highlights of the five-goal Wembley thriller, go and do so just to see Deulofeu’s incredible goal to start the Watford comeback. The Spaniard seemingly had nothing on when he picked the ball up wide in the Wolves box, yet he produced a marvellous chip out of nowhere to stun Wolves.

From there, the momentum was all Watford, and the Hornets kept buzzing around and causing problems until they won their late penalty. After forcing extra-time, it always looked like a matter of when and not if Watford would win it, and once again it was Deulofeu who grabbed the all-important goal. The Spaniard has become lethal under Javi Gracia, and the Watford fans will be desperate for him to fire them towards FA Cup glory in next month’s final.

You can read the Hornet’s verdict on Deulofeu here:

The Hornets were left mesmerised by Deulofeu and will be desperate for him to repeat his heroics when they return to Wembley to face Manchester City next month.

Charlton’s Lyle Taylor sends a bitter message to the EFL

[ad_pod ]Charlton returned to winning ways with a resounding 4-0 victory over Scunthorpe United on Monday having suffered their first defeat since February 2 at the hands of Oxford United last time out, with goals from Igor Vetokele, Joe Aribo, Anfernee Dijksteel and, of course, top-scorer Lyle Taylor securing another fantastic three points.Taylor has come into his own since Karlan Grant departed in January and simply can’t stop scoring – his wondrous free-kick at The Valley was his 20th goal in the league this campaign – although his exploits haven’t been enough to earn the 29-year-old a spot in the EFL League One Team of the Season.Luton Town’s James Collins keeps him from leading the line and it’s safe to say that Taylor is less than pleased with his exclusion. He had this to say on Twitter:Check out what happened when two of Charlton’s best players faced-off in a game of ‘Splat’ in the video below…

Having joined the Addicks on a free in the summer, the 5-cap Montserrat international will surely be considered one of the best signings of the season; there isn’t an award for that unfortunately, but he will undoubtedly receive recognition at club level if not from the EFL, who he clearly feels a tad bitter towards now.

Liverpool: Alisson’s stupid mistakes cost him a world-class status

That was nervy, wasn’t it?

Liverpool evaded disaster by securing a narrow win over relegation contenders Fulham, temporarily climbing back into Premier League’s pinnacle.

However, what is obvious, they shouldn’t have been in a difficult predicament, to begin with.

Despite dominating the game, a disastrous mistake almost cost them three points. Indeed, Virgil van Dijk showed a rare moment of nervousness when he made a risky back-pass to Allison with Ryan Babel right on his toes. However, the Brazilian ended up being nutmegged by the Dutch winger, conceding an embarrassing goal.

This, however, isn’t the first silly goal he’s conceded this season. Who can forget the first he conceded in the Premer League, when a cheeky moment went wrong and he ended up red-faced? No one is doubting that the Brazilian has definitely been a solid signing for Liverpool, keeping 17 clean-sheets and only conceding 18 goals so far.

However, most of the ones he has conceded have been poor.

Similarly, he shouldn’t have been outwitted by Babel in the Fulham game. Allison should’ve just cleared the ball to save the Dutchman, who’s been protecting his goal all throughout the season. At times, the former Roma custodian has been a bit too confident and ambitious for his own benefit, which has resulted in embarrassing moments throughout the season.

If Allison truly wants to establish himself as one of the best in the world, he needs to stop making unforced errors. Despite being a solid figure throughout, he needs to realize one-off silly mistakes are what tarnished Liverpool’s title campaign the last time they went close to winning the Premier League.

Everton fans react as Tyias Browning’s move to China confirmed

[ad_pod ]

Everton announced on Wednesday that defender Tyias Browning had joined Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande for an undisclosed fee, and Toffees fans were quick to react to the surprising player update on Twitter.

The 24-year-old only made nine first-team appearances in all competitions for the club whose youth system he came through, with the majority of his other outings coming for the U23s – 116 according to Transfermarkt.

The versatile defender, who has played as a centre-back and right-back throughout his career to date, failed to make much of an impact on Marco Silva this term following his return from a loan spell with Sunderland last season, making the squad in the Premier League on just the one occasion – against Huddersfield Town back in September.

Everton supporters took to social media to have their say on Browning’s surprise switch, and while one said “fair play Marcel” – presumably in relation to Brands managing to get a fee for the Liverpool-born man’s services, another said “£30m I heard”.

The Missing Piece: Why Thomas Meunier would complete Everton’s team

[ad_pod ]

It is no secret that Everton have spent significant amounts of money strengthening their squad over the last couple of transfer windows.

Toffees boss Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have worked tirelessly to bring in big-money signings such as Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Richarlison, but all of their investment won’t have the desired effect unless they have balance within the starting XI.

What’s the problem?

Well, the Merseyside-based club don’t have many issues in terms of picking their strongest line-up, if you were to look at the players individually. In Jordan Pickford, Everton have England’s number one and a goalkeeper of real quality, who will only get better.

Be sure to check out the incredible story of the man who rose from a Tanzanian refugee camp to become one of Australia’s biggest football stars in the video below…

Ahead of him, they have an exquisite left-back in Digne who has scored three goals and recorded three assists already this season (via Whoscored), with Mina and Kurt Zouma next to him in defence. The duo of Idrissa Gueye and Andre Gomes make up the centre of midfield, whilst Ademola Lookman, Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison can run riot up top.

The real problem in the team comes at right-back, as Goodison Park icon Seamus Coleman, who has been at the club for almost a decade, appears to be declining as a footballer and in need of replacing. The Toffees’ supporters have not been happy on Twitter with how the Irishman has played at times this season, and they could do with a fresh face to replace the 30-year-old.

With that in mind, a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier would be ideal.

Why would Meunier fit into Silva’s plans?

The Belgian international is a player of real pedigree and class, playing a key role in his country’s third-place finish at the World Cup last summer with a goal and two assists from right-back, as per FIFA.com.

The 27-year-old is known for his ability to make an impact in the final third, and would mirror the output of Digne over on the other side of defence if he were to arrive at Goodison Park.

Meunier has scored four goals and recorded three assists in all competitions so far this season (via Whoscored), but has had to battle with Thilo Kehrer and Dani Alves for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s team – however he definitely deserves to be starting week in, week out.

Everton took advantage of a similar situation when they signed Digne in the summer, as the Frenchman wasn’t getting much game time at Barcelona despite being a great player, so perhaps they could swoop in and do the same with the Belgian.

England striker desperate to land silverwareMove to Germany was supposed to end barren runIn danger of ending season empty-handedGettyWHAT HAPPENED?

The England captain severed career-long ties with Premier League side Tottenham in 2023 after coming to the conclusion that he needed to leave north London in order to land major silverware. A switch to Bundesliga champions Bayern was expected to deliver the tangible success that the prolific frontman craves.

AdvertisementTHE BIGGER PICTURE

Kane did, however, suffer Super Cup heartache on debut for Bayern. He has since seen them slip out of the German Cup and eight points off the pace in the Bundesliga title race. Thomas Tuchel’s side are also trailing 1-0 in their Champions League last-16 encounter with Lazio, as a rare sequence of setbacks threatens to undermine collective efforts.

WHAT KANE SAID

Kane is in danger of ending his debut campaign at the Allianz Arena empty-handed, but he will not be running away from the challenge and is backing himself and a star-studded collection of club colleagues to play their way back into form. Kane has posted on Instagram: “No hiding from a tough week with performances and results not at the level we expect from ourselves. Got to pull together as a group and push forward – big run of important games coming up to turn it round.”
