أبدى مدافع نادي ريال مدريد الأسبق، إيفان كامبو، اندهاشه من سوء مستوى الملكي في مباراة الكلاسيكو يوم أمس، الاحد، أمام برشلونة في الجولة التاسعة والعشرين من بطولة الدوري الإسباني.

وسقط ريال مدريد على أرضه ووسط جماهيره أمام برشلونة بنتيجة قاسية 0-4، وأصبحت هناك شكوك حول مستوى فريق العاصمة فيما تبقى من الموسم رغم تصدره جدول الترتيب.

تحدث كامبو عن المباراة في تصريحات لراديو “ماركا” الإسباني، وقال: “لقد فوجئت بمدى سوء أداء ريال مدريد، أكثر من أداء برشلونة”.

وأضاف: “كانت بداية ريال مدريد في الشوط الثاني كارثية، أنشيلوتي لم ينجح وقد اعتذر، من الغريب أن نرى كيف لا يتم الاعتماد على لاعبين معينين بينما البعض الآخر متعب للغاية”.

وعن عودة برشلونة: “لقد نجحوا في التعاقد مع بعض اللاعبين المميزين في الشتاء، هذا هو المفتاح لعودتهم القوية من جديد وتقديم هذا المستوى”.

والمنافسة على لقب الدوري: “حتى يتم حسم البطولة بشكل رسمي، ما زالت هناك فرصة أمام الجميع لحصد الدوري الإسباني، لكن الأمر صعب، يكاد يكون مستحيلًا، لكن العديد من النقاط ما تزال متبقية، اللقب يعتمد على ما سيقدمه اللاعبون في المباريات المقبلة وتفكير أنشيلوتي”.

Manjurul Islam returned his career best analysis of 3 for 37 in ten overs. Bangladesh in reply, crashed to 103 all out in 30.4 overs. Only Javed Omar carried his bat for 33. Incidentally, the opener repeated this feat in the second innings of the first Test also. Bangladesh’s last six wickets fell for 28 runs in nine overs. Heath Streak claimed 2 for 20, Mutendera 3 for 23 and Viljoen 2 for 14. Skipper Naimur Rahman struck 25 off 21 balls with four fours.Bulawayo – Third match:
Bangladesh gave a good account of themselves in this match. Zimbabwe scored an imposing total of 308 for 4, mainly built through the 148 runs of a 4th wicket partnership between brothers Grant and Andy Flower. Grant scored 142 not out and Andy 81. S Carlisle scored 42 not out. Though Bangladesh surpassed their previous highest score of 257 yet their valiant effort fell 36 runs short of the target. Opener Javed Omar scored 69, Habibul Bashar hit 74 and their 3rd wicket partnership produced 74 runs off 103 balls. B Strang claimed 3 for 56, Mutendera 2/44 and Andy Blignaut 2/41. Grant Flower who had smashed 65 off the last five overs was the Man of the Match and the Series.For the tourists, Javed Omar, Habibul Bashar, M Rahman and N Rahman batted with determination while Manjural Islam, Mohammad Sharif and Mushfiqur Rahman bowled well. Zimbabwe fully exploited the lack of experience and weaknesses of the minnows of International Cricket and thus convincingly won. However the visitors have surely been enriched with useful experience and exposure to top-level cricket.

Leeds United are not believed to be interested in signing Wolves winger Adama Traore this summer, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Marcelo Bielsa will likely be aiming to make key additions to strengthen his squad over the summer transfer window and show that Leeds’ first season back in the Premier League has been no fluke, with another strong campaign required in 2021/22.

Leeds’ interest in Traore ‘dismissed’

One player who has been linked with a move to Elland Road is Traore, with the £31.5m-valued forward potentially leaving Wolves at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, however, sources at Leeds have ‘dismissed’ those claims, with Bielsa not viewing him as an option moving forward.

When he is in full flow, Traore is a hugely exciting player to watch, as illustrated by some electric performances last season. However, given the money Leeds would have to spend on him, it would be a big risk.

The Spaniard ultimately flatters to deceive in the final third too often, scoring just one goal and registering two assists in 31 league appearances this season.

That level of inconsistency is unlikely to appeal to Bielsa, with wide men such as Raphinha and Jack Harrison delivering more regularly with 12 goal involvements apiece in the league. Therefore, Leeds are probably right to back away from a move for Traore.

Victor Orta could sign Leeds a real upgrade on Patrick Bamford in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard amid Noel Whelan’s transfer claim.

What’s the story?

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park in recent months and has been touted with a switch to the Premier League, with the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa said to be interested.

Whelan has now thrown Marcelo Bielsa’s side into the ring and claimed that the 23-year-old seems perfectly built to shine at Elland Road and that he’s a “big fan” of his work.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, the ex-Whites player said: “I do think we need another striker, no doubt about that. I have been thinking for over two seasons now.

“Edouard at Celtic. I have been a big fan of him for a long time. He is my choice. He has got the stature, he has got the work rate, he can take set pieces.”

Upgrade on Bamfprd

While Bamford has led the line superbly for Leeds this season – he’s bagged 14 Premier League goals for the newly-promoted Whites – Edouard’s arrival would give Bielsa the perfect all-round striker.

In his time at Celtic, the young Frenchman has proven to be a prolific goalscorer, averaging a goal every other game – he’s scored 81 times in just 162 matches for the Bhoys.

The 23-year-old isn’t just a predatory number nine, though, also displaying impressive link-up play and touch to get the rest of his team-mates involved – he’s chipped in with five assists in 26 league games this campaign.

When you look at both Bamford and Edouard’s numbers this season in terms of all the key attacking stats, it’s the latter who comes out on top.

As per Sofascore, the France under-21 international has a better goals per minutes ratio, has missed far fewer big chances, and has a better goal conversion rate, too – all signs which point to him just being a far more clinical number nine.

Even when it comes the build-up play and defensive work which Bielsa may prize just as much, it’s Edouard who once again comes out looking the better. He averages more key passes per game, a better passing accuracy, completes triple the amount of dribbles per match, and wins more total duels in comparison to Bamford.

Dubbed as “talismanic” by former Celtic boss Neil Lennon, the £13.5m-rated Edouard has the finishing touch and “stature”, as Whelan says, to be a real threat for Leeds, and could represent a genuine upgrade on Bamford in attack.

A number of Liverpool supporters have been lauding Nathaniel Phillips after he won the club’s Player of the Month award for March.

This season has seen the Reds suffer a disastrous number of injuries at centre-back, playing a huge part in their overall struggles.

Virgil van Dijk’s campaign was ended way back in October, but if that wasn’t bad enough, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have also joined him on the treatment table.

All three have been long-term absentees and it has forced Jurgen Klopp into playing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at centre-back at times, as well as signing Ozan Kabak on loan.

Someone else who has filled in is Phillips, with the 23-year-old a relative unknown until recently, now producing a string of impressive performances.

The defender has done admirably in an extremely tough situation and his efforts have been rewarded, following the confirmation of his Player of the Month triumph.

It is something that most Liverpool fans would never have been able to see happening last summer, so Phillips deserves a huge pat on the back.

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, Crystal Palace have reportedly added Steve Cooper to a potential list of candidates to replace Roy Hodgson this summer.

What’s the word?

Hodgson has recently admitted he remains “undecided” over his future at Selhurst Park, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, it is understood that the Palace hierarchy are looking at potential replacements.

Sean Dyche is also seen as an option to replace Hodgson, but the Eagles are reportedly keeping tabs on the Swansea City boss and still identify him as a viable target alongside Dyche.

The Sun claim Steve Parish would be able to land Cooper more easily than Dyche as Burnley are most likely to offer him a new contract.

Palace have only managed two wins in their past seven games in the Premier League this season and are currently 14th in the table.

Perfect Roy Hodgson replacement

The clamour from Crystal Palace fans who want the 41-year-old to replace Hodgson is there, although he could very well already be in the Premier League by the end of the campaign, as his side are currently chasing automatic promotion from the Championship.

However, if Parish can tempt Cooper to Selhurst Park, he could completely revolutionise the club’s philosophy. Despite bringing in a couple of fresh faces in the likes of Eberechi Eze and Nathan Ferguson in the summer, Palace still have the oldest squad in the Premier League by quite some margin, although that can also be partly attributed to Ferguson’s long-term injury.

While Cooper has recently been credited for the work he has done with helping to develop young talents like Ben Cabango and Marc Guehi during his time at Swansea City, this has all stemmed from his early years in management, having previously managed England at under-16 level.

It’s no wonder Swansea have one of the youngest squads in the Championship with an average age of 25.3 but what is surprising to see is that they currently sit third in the league.

The Swans have also conceded just 15 goals in 27 games this season, which is five fewer than their promotion rivals Watford. Therefore, not only is he a game-changer in terms of their transfer business off the pitch, he has also transformed their fortunes on it, too by making them a much tougher nut to crack. By comparison, Palace have conceded 42 goals in 24 games thanks to that leaky defence.

Former Palace manager Tony Pulis has previously heaped praise on Cooper, insisting that the Englishman has done an “exceptional job” at Swansea.

If Palace are to take the next step in their development, getting rid of Hodgson and hiring Cooper would be a step in the right direction and be a dream in terms of bringing a new exciting and youthful identity at Selhurst Park.
