– A torcida é paixão. O sofrimento deles é o nosso sofrimento.

Everton’s Richarlison linked with Arsenal

Even though they managed to break their poor run of form in their latest Premier League clash by beating Arsenal 2-1 at Goodison Park, the overall fan mood around Everton has not been not particularly positive in recent weeks after failing to win a league game throughout October and November, as well as the departure of the club’s director of football Marcel Brands.

The much-needed win against Mikel Arteta’s side finally gave the fans at Goodison something to celebrate, but it seems as though the fury towards Everton owner Farhad Moshiri could well be stoked up again after recent reports emerged claiming that Toffees attacker Richarlison, who scored against the Gunners last Monday, is of interest to the north London club for a future transfer according to Fichajes.

Since joining the Merseyside club back in the 2018 summer transfer window from Watford in a deal worth a reported fee of around £40m, the Brazilian has scored 45 goals and provide 11 assists in 129 appearances across all competitions, firmly cementing himself as one of Everton’s top attacking talents.

Labelled as a “complete” player by former Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti, the 24-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists in 10 Premier League games so far this season.

His performance in the 2-1 win against Arsenal earned Richarlison an overall match rating of 8/10 according to SofaScore, making him the highest-rated player on the night, highlighting his importance to the club when it matters.

Given how Alexandre Lacazette (30) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (32) are Arsenal’s two oldest players, it’s easy to see why they see Richarlison, who is currently earning £110k-per-week at Everton according to Salary Sport, as a potential long-term replacement for one of their current strikers.

With Richarlison’s contract at Goodison Park not set to expire until the summer of 2024, it would be nothing short of a disaster if Moshiri were to sell him any time soon, especially to another Premier League club.

If this were to happen, it would surely not go down well with Everton fans given how much of an attacking threat the Brazilian has provided for the Toffees since his arrival on Merseyside.

Gayle knows he's Bollinger's bunny

Chris Gayle has been dismissed four times by Doug Bollinger this season and admits the left-arm fast man has his number

Cricinfo staff10-Feb-2010Chris Gayle has been dismissed four times by Doug Bollinger this season and admits the left-arm fast man has his number. Gayle, the West Indies captain, didn’t know who Bollinger was before the second Test in December, but has learned quickly and is still trying to find a way to deal with him.Gayle was lbw first ball in Adelaide on Tuesday as Australia raced to a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. “He has my measure, definitely,” Gayle said in the Advertiser. “There is no doubt about that.”Despite his troubles, Gayle is looking forward to his next contest with Bollinger at the SCG in the third match on Friday. “These things are good for the game,” he said. “Hopefully we can get a good start in Sydney and we don’t expose our middle order again.”The Australians have talked about cramping Gayle for room and the move has been successful, with the batsman scoring seven runs in the opening two fixtures. Bollinger’s plan in Adelaide revolved around bowling as straight as possible.”It was great to get Chris Gayle again,” Bollinger said. “If he wants to be my bunny he can. I’ll be happy to get him again.”The West Indians currently need much more than a firing Gayle if they are to overcome the Australians in any of the final three matches. Interest in the series is dwindling and only 8358 spectators turned up in Adelaide in a record low attendance there for an ODI.”We can still win 3-2,” Gayle said. “If we can get to 2-1, we can get things happening for us. We need to make it more interesting so you can get some more ticket sales.”

Newcastle eye Man Utd ace Lingard

Newcastle United have reportedly now offered a record deal to Jesse Lingard in order to try and sign him in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Midfielders galore

As the St. James’ Park faithful have been linked with the likes of Nicolo Zaniolo, as well as Harry Winks and Ross Barkley in recent days, it is clear that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium want to bring in some new midfield players for Eddie Howe.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Lingard was one of four players that the North East club were looking to target next month, and there now appears to be an update on the situation…

The Latest: Offer prepared

As per The Times, the Tyneside outfit have now offered a record deal to Lingard that would make him the highest earner in their history, and have made him their priority in the winter window.

His current deal at Manchester United is set to expire in the summer, meaning that he can leave on a free transfer in just a few months.

Talks have already taken place with his advisers, as he has been offered a four-and-a-half-year deal significantly in excess of the £100,000-per-week salary of the Magpies’ current top earner, Miguel Almiron.

The new owners are also ready to offer a substantial transfer fee to sign Lingard, as the Red Devils are well aware that he could end up leaving for free.

The Verdict: Get it done

Even if the fee would be substantial, it should still not be as much as Lingard is worth, given the length of his contract.

Thus, the Toon could have a real bargain on their hands if they end up securing his signature in January.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/newcastle-news-2/” title=”Newcastle news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Lingard showed everyone what he is still capable of during his loan spell at West Ham United last season, scoring no fewer than nine goals and made a further five assists in 16 games in total in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

His performances even made Roy Keane, who is known for overly criticising players, dub him as ‘outstanding’ and always having ‘talent’ back in April, and if he can rekindle that sort of form at NUFC, he would be a real snip.

Deserving teams set up summit battle

The Champions League Twenty20 gets the final it deserves: Two champion teams at the peak of their prowess will clash for the trophy

The Preview by Sriram Veera23-Oct-2009Match factsFriday, October 23
Start time 20.00 (14.30GMT)T&T’s flair stands out from a mile but it’s the case of a disciplined structure that has allowed the players to express themselves•Global Cricket Ventures-BCCI

Big Picture The Champions League Twenty20 gets the final it deserves: two champion teams at the peak of their prowess will clash for the trophy. None of the hyped IPL sides made it and none of the weaker teams managed to sneak in. The two finalists couldn’t be more contrasting in nature. It’s easy to use the obvious comparison of professionalism vs flair for the title clash between New South Wales and Trinidad & Tobago but it would be a mistake. T&T’s flamboyance stands out from a mile, of course, but it’s the case of a disciplined structure that has allowed the players to express themselves. And again, NSW’s discipline sticks out easily but they possess players such as Brett Lee and their two dynamic and unconventional openers, Phillip Hughes and David Warner, who ooze flair. It is in fact a battle between a disciplined team that has added flair and a team oozing style that has added some structure and order.NSW in many ways have already shown that they are the most organised team of the competition while T&T, the winners of three regional one-day titles and the Stanford 20/20 prize, have shown that they are the team to beat. It’s game on.T&T possess dazzling batsmen like Adrian Barath, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, William Perkins and canny medium-pacers in Bravo and Ravi Rampaul and they have easily the best spinner of the tournament in Dave Mohammed and a very miserly one in Sherwin Ganga. It’s almost a perfectly balanced side especially when you add in the sensible Daren Ganga, the most vital cog in the wheel, who has done an admirable job in ensuring that the adrenalin rush of his exuberant team-mates never goes overboard. For their part, NSW possess the most destructive openers in Warner and Hughes and good middle-order batsmen in Simon Katich, Moises Henriques, Ben Rohrer and Daniel Smith. The bowling has been led by the fiery Lee, the canny Stuart Clark, the steady Doug Bollinger and the vastly improving Nathan Hauritz. They have adapted to the different surfaces thrown at them and have come out on top. It’s perhaps no coincidence that NSW’s sole defeat came against T&T. That night it took an out-of-the-world knock from Pollard to defeat them and NSW would like to think that lightning can’t strike twice.Watch out for …Katich and Daren Ganga: When you think of Twenty20, you don’t think of either Ganga or Katich but it’s these two men who have done a stand-out job in leading the sides to the finale. Ganga has channeled the manic energy of his flamboyant team-mates well and has made all the correct decisions in the field. If only Ganga was a more dynamic batsman, he could well have led West Indies. Similarly, if Katich, who of course is a far better batsman than Ganga, had managed to get a consistent spot in the powerful Australian side, he could well have led the national side at some point.Adrian Barath and Kieron Pollard: Twenty20 cricket can be a tricky platform to judge real talent but Barath, in two sparkling innings, has shown that he has the talent to play for West Indies. He indulged himself in the last league game and played a sparkling cameo in a pressure-cooker scenario in the semi-final.Pollard didn’t have to extend himself with the bat after that unbelievable assault against NSW but has continued to chip away with his bowling. He has the power game to match Dwayne Smith and Ricardo Powell but unlike them, he seems to be more disciplined in his craft. Rarely does he swing wildly across the line and seems to possess the temperament to choose the bowlers to take on.Brett Lee v T&T’s top order: He mostly just gets two overs with the new ball but he has bowled with venom to get the early strikes for his team. He has got swing and has not been shy in using the short ball. He will be given the licence to go after the flamboyant T&T top order and it should make for a fascinating watching experience.Hughes and Warner: We know they can be almost violent in their strokeplay. They even conquered the slow pitch of Delhi to unleash hell on their opponents. The last time the two teams played each other, it was the offspinner Sherwin Ganga and the chinaman bowler Mohammed who kept these two left-handed openers relatively quiet. Ganga started with spin in the semi-final; will he go for it again to try upsetting the rhythm of the NSW openers?Dave Mohammed The best spinner of the tournament has left everyone wondering why he is not playing for West Indies. He has tormented the batsmen with his guile and variations and pleased the crowd with his celebrations. Will his special shoe-phone celebration be unfurled in the final? He has the ability to spin it away from the left-handed openers and is likely to pose a few problems.Quotes”We were a little off in the game against T&T. It came at a good time and it didn’t cost us too badly and instead motivated us to make sure we went up a gear in the remaining games and that showed [in the semi-final]”
“The atmosphere is conducive to learning, so the players have the opportunity to express themselves. They are taught self-governance.”
“As batters, every single batter is aware as to where he needs to be after a particular over. We are hitting those targets very easily as a team.”

Crystal Palace linked to Brennan Johnson

Crystal Palace are reportedly one of several Premier League clubs closely monitoring the situation of Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.

What’s the story?

According to Football League World, the Eagles have joined a number of other clubs in the race to acquire his signature.

Johnson’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023, and Forest manager Steve Cooper is believed to be playing an active role in the negotiations.

The report states that: “Football League World understand that Cooper is now involved in those attempts and is looking to convince Johnson to commit longer term.

“There is Premier League interest still in the forward, though, after Brentford’s failed attempts to sign him in the summer. Everton, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion are keeping close tabs on him.”

Parish must seal a swoop

After rising through the ranks at his boyhood club, Johnson enjoyed a successful loan spell at League One outfit Lincoln City last term.

The youngster played a pivotal part as Michael Appleton’s Imps reached the third-tier play-off final in 2020/21, bagging 13 goals and providing 14 assists in 48 appearances.

And Johnson has carried his good form into the Championship during the opening weeks of the current campaign, finding the back of the net on three occasions and laying on a further three assists in 15 outings.

He’s starred in a more attacking system under Cooper in recent weeks, and a particularly impressive performance against Queens Park Rangers last time out caught the eye of former striker Glenn Murray.

“For me, Brennan, he just looks special. He just looks a cut above, and he’s destined for the top,” Murray told Sky Sports (as relayed by Nottingham Forest News).

“Yes, he’s not getting everything right at the moment, but he looks at the top-level easily. I expect a really big future from him.”

With Johnson fast approaching the end of his contract, and Palace in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, Steve Parish must swoop for the Wales international over the coming months.

His addition to Patrick Vieira’s new-look squad would bolster the capital club’s ranks in the final third of the pitch and add even more firepower to an already dangerous forward line. Just imagine the thought of him and Wilfried Zaha running rampant with Odsonne Edouard in attack.

It’s an enthralling thought for Palace supporters.

West Ham fans erupt over Hlozek update

Flocking to Twitter, many West Ham United fans have now erupted over a transfer claim involving Sparta Prague striker Adam Hlozek.

The Czech Republic international, who has been linked with a move to east London in recent months, is seemingly still on the club’s radar as they continue their search for a back-up striker.

Currently, star man Michail Antonio is their only natural senior option and one injury could spell trouble for manager David Moyes as he aims to maintain his side’s fine start to the campaign.

The likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Andrea Belotti have been talked about in the press but Hlozek has now re-emerged as a target for West Ham as reliable club insider ExWHUemployee shares news.

Indeed, speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast, the Hammers source believes that Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, who is currently in talks to buy a 27 per cent stake in the club, views Sparta as a feeder club and Hlozek could now be looked at again in January (Patreon).

Flocking to this claim, it’s safe to say many Irons supporters are excited, and it isn’t difficult to see why going by the striker’s prolific return of 15 goals and eight assists in just 19 Fortuna Liga appearances last campaign (Transfermarkt).

At just 19-years-old, he would also come with a major sell-on value going by his potential.

As a result, many West Ham fans have erupted over this claim on the striker starlet – find all of their best Twitter verdicts down below.

Tom Barclay makes big Marc Guehi claim

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi could take his game to the next level after receiving guidance from Sol Campbell in recent weeks, according to journalist Tom Barclay.

What’s the story?

The 47-year-old former England international has been out of work since leaving Southend United in June 2020 but is keen to continue learning and remain in the game until another chance comes along.

Campbell left his managerial position on the south coast by ‘mutual consent’ following the club’s relegation to League Two after the 2019/20 League One season was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

And now he’s been invited to take part in some Palace training sessions by former Arsenal teammate Patrick Vieira, something Barclay believes will be extremely beneficial to 21-year-old Guehi.

He told GIVEMESPORT: He seems to really be one of those characters who is like a sponge. I know it’s a cliché but he’s particularly one of those players who listens to everything, really tries to pick up tips, and you start noticing it in his game.

“The more he’s played, the more he’s adding things to his game, and I think Campbell’s vast experience of playing right at the top could only enhance that.”

Crystal Palace fans will be excited

Guehi only arrived at Selhurst Park over the summer via an £18m move from boyhood club Chelsea, but he’s already made a big impression under Vieira’s tutelage.

The centre-back has played every minute of Palace’s Premier League campaign to date, averaging 1.2 tackles per game, 0.7 interceptions and a whopping 3.4 clearances, as per WhoScored.

But Campbell’s presence on the training ground could help the England U21 international elevate his game to new heights in the months ahead.

In a career spanning 20 years, Campbell made over 500 appearances for the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one League Cup throughout his playing days.

Therefore, he could be the ideal tutor for Guehi at this early stage of his career, and Palace fans will surely be excited to see the progress that he makes during his time in south London.

Nottinghamshire struggle on rain-hit day

The first day was a simple case of David Hussey versus Yorkshire. He was the only batsman to reach double figures on the truncated first day at Scarborough

John Ward at Scarboroguh21-Jul-2009
ScorecardThe first day was a simple case of David Hussey versus Yorkshire. He was the only batsman to reach double figures on the truncated first day as Tim Bresnan in particular broke through the Nottinghamshire top order almost like a knife through butter. Helped by good slip catching, Bresnan took four cheap wickets as he moved the ball sharply at times and only Nottinghamshire’s Australian import could stand up against bowling that would have done credit to an Ashes Test match.Much of this day did little for the image of the game, mainly due to the pernickety ‘health and safety’ attitude adopted by the umpires John Steele and Neil Bainton towards the weather. There was a light drizzle just before play started, and when it stopped they decided the light was unfit, though it was scarcely dangerous. The usual sizeable Scarborough crowd grew increasingly angry before play finally started at 12.15 pm.The pitch looked a batsman’s paradise, and Nottinghamshire decided to bat on winning the toss. Unfortunately for them, they seemed to be still affected by the batting traumas of their recent defeat against Durham, and they struggled from the start against some typically fine bowling by Matthew Hoggard and Bresnan. The first boundary was a fortuitous edge through the slips by Bilal Shafayat, and in the seventh over, with the score only 12, Matt Wood edged a ball from Bresnan into the slips and was gone. Shafayat soon followed, lbw to a full-length ball from Hoggard, and Nottinghamshire were 15 for 2.Hussey broke the shackles with a fine off-driven boundary off Hoggard, who nevertheless finished an opening spell with figures of 7-3-9-1; surprisingly, he did not bowl again. Dion Kruis was not a satisfactory replacement, as his line and length were erratic, and Hussey enjoyed his offerings, driving him through the covers twice for four. Kruis then responded with a sharp lifter that lobbed off Hussey’s bat into no-man’s-land on the off side, but this was almost his only dangerous ball of the day. Bresnan removed Mark Wagh, wafting outside the off stump and edging a catch to Gerard Brophy, returning to the side after a finger injury; 33 for 3.Lunch was taken nine runs later, and then came a lost session. The umpires decided the light was too poor to start again after the interval, and this time the crowd took it rather better. Half an hour later the good news was that the light had improved; the bad news was that a drizzle had started. It was so light that scarcely an umbrella was seen and few spectators bothered to take cover. Play did not restart until 4.20, when the crowd were again growing restive. The visitors’ troubles increased, and without Hussey they would have been a disaster indeed. In the second over Samit Patel was caught low at second slip off Bresnan, but Kruis continued to bowl at the other end, to the pleasure of Hussey. He continued to hit him for off-side boundaries with ease, but Bresnan was much more challenging, and briefly there was a fascinating battle, as Bresnan beat him several times with superb deliveries, while Hussey was intent on taking control, hitting him too for superb fours, straight and to the off. In contrast Ali Brown was never happy and fell to another slip catch off Bresnan. When before has the normally aggressive Brown scored only 5 in a partnership of 41?Hussey reached his 50, and it was a surprise to discover he faced as many as 71 balls, with a magnificent six over the sightscreen off Adil Rashid, who had taken two of the slip catches. Hussey also hit ten fours, one of them an overthrow early on when he was nearly run out backing up too far. Then, yet again, the umpires incurred the wrath of the crowd by taking the players off for bad light, and they did not come on again. It is scarcely good public relations when a crowd goes home feeling badly short-changed, and cricket’s authorities need to take another long overdue look at their attitude with regard to poor, but not dangerous, light. Yorkshire still have to win a championship match, and they are on top in this one, despite Hussey, but they need a better deal from the weather and the umpires.

Everton injury news on Onyango

Lots of Everton fans have been left buzzing as Tyler Onyango returned from injury to play in an Under-23s’ game on Tuesday night.

As per the official website of the Goodison Park faithful, Onyango played in 82 minutes of the team’s 4-2 comeback win against Leeds United, after he sustained a serious ankle injury in an FA Youth Cup tie all the way back in April.

The central midfield player returned to full training just two weeks ago following six months of rehabilitation, and was rewarded with what manager David Unsworth described as a ‘great’ performance against the Whites.

Onyango made his senior debut for the Merseyside club in the FA Cup last season, and with Abdoulaye Doucoure now out injured, there may be a chance for him in the first team under Rafa Benitez.
