As per a report from earlier in the week from Eurosport, which has since been shared by Toffee TV on their Twitter page, the Goodison Park outfit are among a number of clubs pursuing the Rangers midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Brentford, Watford and an unnamed team in Russia are also interested in his signature after impressing at Euro 2020 with Finland.

Kamara ranked highly among his Finnish teammates in terms of average tackles (1.3), interceptions (3.3), passes (52.3), pass success (87.9%) and long balls (1.7) per game in the group stages (Whoscored), where they had to play the world’s highest-ranked team in Belgium and eventual semi-finalists Denmark.

The Toffees would have no doubt been keeping an eye on his performances, and it seems that a lot of their supporters want the club to snap him up.

These fans were buzzing as the transfer update was shared on Twitter, with one Evertonian saying that Kamara is an ‘excellent’ player:

“He’s not the easiest on the eye in possession, but on the occasions I watched Rangers I was very impressed with him. Reminded me a lot of Doucoure. Ticks a lot of the boxes we need ticking, even if he’s not a stand out signing.”

Pundit says Aiden McGeady can be key for Sunderland - Exclusive

Steve Howey has exclusively told Football FanCast that Aiden McGeady can be the difference-maker for Sunderland next season.

The 35-year-old was left out in the cold by former manager Phil Parkinson during the first half of the 2020-2021 season.

However, following the appointment of Lee Johnson just before Christmas, McGeady immediately came back into the side and produced some outstanding numbers to help the Black Cats reach the top-six.

In just 35 appearances in all competitions, McGeady scored six times and added an impressive 17 assists.

Despite turning 36 in April, McGeady was rewarded with a 12-month contract last month to extend his stay at the Stadium of Light into a fifth campaign.

Three of the previous four have been at League One level as Sunderland look to end their painful stay in the third-tier and get back into the Championship.

Following McGeady’s contract extension, ex-Newcastle midfielder Howey was asked whether the experienced attacker can lead Sunderland to League One glory next season.

He told FFC:

“At that level, he stands out. But what Sunderland must do is not draw as many games.

“I think it was 16 or 17 games last season. If you lose half of them and win half of them, you go up as champions, easily.”

Younis, Misbah guide Pakistan to victory

After a shuddery start Pakistan were able to reach the victory target of 180 in the 39th over for the loss of three wickets

Nabeel Sabir01-Sep-2002After a shuddery start Pakistan were able to reach the victory target of 180 in the 39th over for the loss of three wickets. Pakistan made a terrible start to their chase as they lost early wickets. But ever improving Younis Khan joined hands with Misbah-ul-Haq who was playing only his second game to guide Pakistan to victory. They put on an unbroken partnership of 127 for the fourth wicket. Younis brought up the victory by hitting a four. Both batsmen ended up with their highest ODI scores Younis remained unbeaten on 87 (91 balls, 11 4s and 1 6) while Misbah made 50 not out (92 balls, 3 4s).Pakistan also gained a bonus point in process by getting to the target in less than 40 overs and Younis Khan walked awy as the man of the Match.Earlier Shoaib Malik and Saeed Anwar opened Saeed’s poor run with the bat continued, caught behind off Martin Suji for two and Pakistan were 11 for 1 in the third over. Shahid Afridi replaced Saeed. But next over Shoaib Malik was trapped leg before and Pakistan were reduced to 13-2. Younis Khan came in and hit the first four of the Pakistan innings when he played a lovely stright drive off Odoyo. He, along with Afridi started the consolidation work. Afridi tilted the balance into Pakistanis favour by scoring 20 runs of Odoyo’s 4th over as he smashed two sixes and an equal amount of fours.Just when it seemed Afridi was finding his groove he played his trademark reckless shot to be out caught on the third man boundary by Angara off Tony Suji. There was no need for such adventurism and Pakistan were in trouble at 54-3 in the 12th over. He had made 31 off 28 balls including two 6s and three 4s.After 15 overs Pakistan had reached 64-3 with victory still looking far away.Kenyan captain Steve Tikolo made effective bowling changes and tightened the screws with sprightly fielding. Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq started to rotate the strike. Younis who was settling down well spanked three consecutive 4s off Tony Suji to ease some pressure in the 24th over.Pakistan’s 100 was brought up in the 25th over and immediately after the 50 run partnership for the fourth wicket between Younis and Misbah was also completed off 77 balls. The partnership between Younis and Misbah was exactly what the doctor advised.Younis reached his 50 off 63 balls in the 31st over including seven 4s. And Pakistan’s 150 was brought up in the 35th over of the innings for the loss of three wickets. Younis played efficiently as he guided the Pakistani run chase well. Joseph Angara was the best Kenyan bowler as he took 1-21 in six overs.Pakistan restrict Kenya to 179.
After electing to bat first under grey skies Kenyans were all out for a score of 179 in the 43rd over. Keeping in mind they are newbies it was a very good performance as they played well against one of the best bowling attacks in the world. The match was poised for an interesting run chase as the Pakistanis have a notorious reputation of being poor run chasers. Both the teams made one change each – Pakistan brought in middle order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq replacing opener Imran Nazir while the Kenyans were forced to bring in Jimmy Kamande for injured Hitesh Modi who fractured his left index finger in the first game.In a change of tactics, Pakistan opened the bowling with Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar. The decision proved fruitful straight away as Shoaib Akhtar nicknamed ‘Rawalpindi Express’ started off with a thundering maiden first over. Then with the first ball of his second over he cleaned up opener Ravindu Shah when he dragged one on. Captain Steve Tikolo replaced Shah but he too went back early as he edged one from Wasim to Rashid Latif who took a smart catch.Kennedy Otieno now partnered newcomer Thomas Odoyo to repair the damage. Both of them put on 61 runs for the third wicket before Odoyo holed out to Shoaib Akhtar off the bowling of skipper Waqar Younis. He made 28 off 49 balls including five fours.Next man in was experienced Maurice Odumbe but he couldn’t last long, bowled after cover driving Afridi for a four.Kennedy Otieno rode his luck as in one Shoiab over, on the first ball Misbah ran him out through a smart piece of work but leg umpire Aleem Dar didn’t refer to the third umpire and the TV replays showed his bat was in the air. Three balls later he was clean bowled by a gem of a yorker from Shoaib only to find it was a no-ball, the very next ball, Saeed anwar floored a sitter at mid off.

'Signing James Bryant was a shrewd move' the Somerset boss is told

With the shortest day now in the past and the turn of the year in sight, thoughts at Somerset County Cricket Club are firmly focussed on the 2003 season and trying to ensure that all possible measures are taken to enable the club to gain promotion

SOMERSET23-Dec-2002With the shortest day now in the past and the turn of the year in sight, thoughts at Somerset County Cricket Club are firmly focussed on the 2003 season and trying to ensure that all possible measures are taken to enable the club to gain promotion back to the top flight at the first attempt. The club has already made three impressive signings in West Indian fast bowler Nixon McLean, South African top order batsman James Bryant and promising young allrounder Aaron Laraman from Middlesex, each of whom will strengthen the Cidermen’s bid for success next summer. In the days leading up to Christmas officials at the club spent a considerable amount of time on the telephone to South Africa trying to get the latest information on two of their new recruits. The Somerset chief executive Peter Anderson told me: "Somerset are trying to make an assessment as to whether Nixon McLean’s contract with the club for 2003 will be affected by a possible recall to the West Indies team. If he is recalled the West Indies are due to play Australia and Pakistan at home with matches scheduled to take place up to the end of June 2003."Nixon McLean is currently in very good from in South Africa where he is playing for Natal. Last season he was one of the leading bowlers on the domestic scene and this year in his four matches he has taken 16 wickets at a cost of nearly 23 runs each.McLean told me: "I have a contract with Somerset County Cricket Club which I hope to fulfil. Joel Garner was a hero of mine and I was thrilled to bits to be given the chance to fill his enormous boots."He continued: "My contract with Somerset is attractive because it states that it will be me and not Andrew Caddick who bowls with the wind, and it will always be me who bowls into the end with the most grass!"In reality the likelihood is that because McLean is already playing in South Africa, where the World Cup is due to take place in spring 2003, he may well be recalled for that competition.Beyond the World Cup it is difficult to predict, but officials at Taunton will certainly be watching West Indian team developments very carefully over the next few months. The signing of batsman James Bryant by Somerset is looking better and better with each day that passes by.Referring to the Eastern Province batsman Mr Anderson told me: "Respected observers of the game in South Africa have been contacting me to say that the signing of James Bryant is a very shrewd move indeed. He is said to be technically a very good batsman, and his second attribute is that in the field he is on a par with Jonty Rhodes," all of which is very good news for Somerset supporters.

Aston Villa: Fans react to Marvelous Nakamba rumours

Crystal Palace and Everton are weighing up moves for Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, according to The Daily Mail.

And, as to be expected, a number of Villa supporters have been sharing their thoughts at the exit links on social media.

The Daily Mail claim that Nakamba features high on Rafael Benitez and Patrick Vieira’s midfield target lists, with both clubs ready to test Vila’s resolve with offers for the 27-year-old.

Nakamba, who arrived at Villa Park in 2019 at a cost of £10.8m, has made 50 appearances in the Midlands.

Fellow holding midfielder Douglas Luiz is away with Brazil at the Olympics, possibly until August 7, and Villa are reluctant to lose Nakamba during the current window.

Villa fans react

@villareport shared the rumours regarding Nakamba on Friday evening.

This is what these Villa fans had to say in reply, with one describing a possible exit as ‘tragic’, possibly due to Villa losing just three times in 13 Premier League fixtures last season when the midfielder featured.

Spurs make Ings priority

According to a report by The Telegraph, Fabio Paratici and co have made Southampton striker Danny Ings Tottenham’s new transfer priority this summer.

The Lowdown: New striker incoming?

Tottenham did not take up the option to make Carlos Vinicius’ 2020/2021 season-long loan a permanent move, with Sky Sports recently detailing that the club will be on the look out for a new forward.

Ings has been loosely linked to Spurs this summer but now The Telegraph have taken that one step further.

The Latest: Spurs make Ings priority…

As per the outlet and reliable journalist Matt Law, Paratici and co have now earmarked the 28-year-old as a possible partner for Harry Kane this summer.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-2/” title=”Tottenham latest!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

It is believed the club have now made Ings a priority signing for Spurs with a firm belief he can play alongside Kane under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Tottenham’s new manager allegedly wants to play two up front with a ready-made Premier League goal scorer next to their superstar talisman.

This comes after recruitment meetings, which followed the appointments of Nuno and Paratici, where it has been recommended that Spurs pursue Ings this summer.

The Verdict: Do it Paratici…

We could think of no better possible partner for Kane next season as Nuno eyes a dynamic duo up front.

Scoring 12 goals and assisting four others in the English top flight over 2020/2021, he also averaged more shots on goal per game (2) than the likes of Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale (WhoScored).

His threat in the final third is perhaps best summed up by Alan Hutton when speaking to Football Insider, who called simply him a ‘proven goalscorer’.

Jamie O’Hara also believes he would be a great Tottenham acquisition, labelling Ings the ‘perfect fit’ for Spurs when speaking to talkSPORT.

He could indeed be a worthwhile acquisition for Spurs this summer.
