Outstanding financial issues between the Pakistan board and outgoing coach Geoff Lawson have been resolved after a meeting on Monday.Lawson had sent back a cheque the board had given him over the weekend, claiming the payment was far short of what was owed to him as per the terms of his contract, a claim which was correct.Lawson told Cricinfo the meeting with Salim Altaf, the PCB’s director-general, was “a cordial one” and that the issue was resolved “amicably”.”We had a good meeting,” Altaf told Cricinfo. “There had been a communication gap in the past but we have ended on good terms.”The amount outstanding to Lawson is thought to be in the region of US$30,000, a bonus payment for taking the side to the final of an ICC tournament (Pakistan reached the final of the World Twenty20 last year).Lawson spoke to reporters briefly after the meeting, his first such interaction with the media since he was sacked. “It has been a very enjoyable experience for me and I have learnt a lot being an international coach. If the board wants to have a local coach, good luck to them. I have no grievances with them. It was an honor for me to coach the Pakistan team.”While Lawson is planning on flying back to Australia, most likely on Saturday, the fitness trainer he brought with him to Pakistan is likely to stay on. David Dwyer, the Australian trainer, also met Altaf and was he asked by the board to stay. At the time of Lawson’s sacking it was believed that Dwyer would also go back with him, but he was convinced otherwise. “We allayed David’s fears about the situation,” Altaf said. “He is on board and staying on with us.”

Serie A expert drops big Boga to Everton claim

Serie A expert Conor Clancy insists that Jeremie Boga would be limited by Rafael Benitez if he decided to move to Everton.

The Toffees have been linked with a potential swoop for the winger this summer, as have Crystal Palace.

Boga has emerged as something of a star during his time with Sassuolo in Serie A, and reports suggest that Atalanta have already tabled a bid worth £15.5m for his signature, though it was rejected.

The 24-year-old, who is valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, has made a total of 90 appearances for the club and has scored 18 goals, while also laying on seven assists.

A pacey, tricky winger who can play on the left, in attacking midfield and up front, Boga needs to be able to have the opportunity to play with complete freedom, according to Clancy, who is the editor-in-chief at Forza Italian Football.

Boga, of course, has experience of playing in England, as he came through the ranks at Chelsea, though he made just one senior appearance for the Blues.

Like a number of Chelsea youngsters, he went on a spate of loan spells, playing for French club Rennes, Granada in Spain and fellow English club Birmingham City.

Clancy said: “Maybe Everton might make a little bit more sense but still, under Benitez, he’s going to be a lot more restricted than he would like to be.

“With Sassuolo, he’s basically just told, ‘there’s the ball, go and play’. I think he’s got to go somewhere where that can also happen and I don’t see that from Everton in the Premier League.”

Ponting needs to show patience in India – Chappell

Ricky Ponting needs to show more patience and caution at the start of his innings if he is to reverse his terrible batting record in India, according to former Australian captain Ian Chappell

Ricky Ponting needs to show more patience and caution at the start of his innings if he is to reverse his terrible batting record in India, according to former Australian captain Ian Chappell.”Ponting’s desire to dictate gets him into a bit of trouble in India,” Chappell was quoted as saying in the . “He hasn’t displayed the patience required at the start of an innings when you are facing good spinners in India.”Ponting has scored only 172 runs in 14 innings in India at an average of 12.28. He was tormented by Harbhajan Singh during the 2001 tour, falling to the offspinner five out of five times, and played only one Test – in which he scored 11 and 12 – on the 2004 tour because of injury. However, Ponting hasn’t struggled on the rest of the subcontinent. He averages 65.70 in six Tests in Sri Lanka and scored 119 in his only Test in Pakistan.”He tends to push out at the ball when defending rather than letting the ball come to him,” Chappell said. “Good players of spin reach out to smother the spin in attack, but in defence let the ball come to them. Ponting has been dismissed for so many low scores; he hasn’t found a method that will allow him to survive this danger period.”The important things … are finding a survival method, watching the ball off the pitch really closely, working out what shots you can and can’t play, and learning you have a fraction of a second longer to play the ball off the pitch when compared to Australia.”In his column in the , Ponting said he was hoping to rectify his poor record in India, and wrote about his experience in 2001. “The one thing that brought me undone was that I didn’t trust my technique enough,” he said. “I got out in my first innings in a way that I shouldn’t have and from then on I tried not to do it again, but every time I tried something different I got out again.”It’s a matter of me trusting my technique. I have a reasonable record in Sri Lanka and everywhere else the ball has spun. India is the one place that has brought me undone.”

Celtic’s predicted XI to play Jablonec

Celtic head into their European qualifying clash tonight full of confidence after scoring ten goals in their last two outings.

It has been a quick period of recovery from the Hoops who began Ange Postecoglou’s reign with back to back defeats.

They crashed out of the Champions League but have a strong chance of qualifying for the Europa League group stages.

The Bhoys beat Czech outfit Jablonec last week and they head into the second leg on Thursday evening with a 4-2 advantage.

Celtic played some eye-catching attacking football in the first fixture but made changes to the team at the weekend which resulted in a 6-0 win over Dundee.

Therefore, will Postecoglou make any different calls to his XI tonight? Here’s what we’re predicting…

We are tipping the manager to make as many as four changes to his team to take on Jablonec.

With Odsonne Edouard a doubt for the match with an ankle problem, Kyogo Furuhashi starts up top as he aims to add to his tally of four goals in just three outings.

There is one change to the offensive ranks where Ryan Christie is given a rest following his magical cameo on Sunday where he registered three assists. James Forrest – who scored in the first leg – comes back into the team on the left.

Another replacement is in the middle of the park where Ismaila Soro returns to the fray to offer more defensive protection in front of the back four.

Tom Rogic earned a rare start versus Dundee and even scored but it’s likely that Postecoglou will prefer a less attacking team on Thursday to protect the lead that they have.

Greg Taylor drops out at left-back with 19-year-old Adam Montgomery preferred. If the teenager does start, it would be just a second outing from the off in the first team.

One final change is at the heart of the defence as Nir Bitton comes back in after starting in the first leg. That means Stephen Welsh is axed with their clash against Hearts in mind.

Joe Hart continues in goal ahead of Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas.

AND in other news, Celtic must sign 25-goal “great talent” who could become “better” than Henrik Larsson…

Former Punjab captain Umesh Kumar dies

Umesh Kumar, the former Punjab captain and offspinner, died of a heart attack in Patiala on Sunday evening. He was 56 and was serving as a selector for the Punjab state side.Kumar played 67 first-class games for Punjab between 1969 and 1986 and took 191 wickets at 20.69. He played three matches for North Zone, including one against the touring Australians in 1979-80.His four wickets in the match included those of Allan Border and Dav Whatmore. Kirti Azad, the former Indian allrounder, who also played in the match, said Kumar had come to the match on the back of a lot of hard work. He had taken 6 for 79 against Haryana in Punjab’s previous game. “Kumar was a good competitor, down to earth, overall a very nice gentleman,” Azad told Cricinfo. After retirement he took up umpiring, starting off with matches in Pakistan in 1987, and was the third umpire in an India-Sri Lanka Test in Mohali in 1997.

Celtic: Postecoglou closing in on Juranovic move

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is closing in on signing Legia Warsaw’s Josip Juranovic, according to The Daily Record.

The Lowdown: Juranovic’s 2021/22 season

Juranovic has already made eight appearances this season, six of which have come as a starter.

In all six games, the Croatia international has started, he has played as a right midfielder.

The 25-year-old, on £317,200-a-year with Legia Warsaw, is thought to be keen on a move to Parkhead, and it seems as if a Scotland switch is edging closer.

The Latest: Daily Record report

The Daily Record shared a Celtic-related story on Wednesday evening regarding Juranovic and Thomas Henry.

They claimed that Postecoglou is closing in on signing Juranovic in a deal worth £3m.

Postecoglou has reportedly turned his attention to Juranovic after struggling in attempts to sign Aurelio Buta and George Baldock.

The Verdict: Shrewd move

Juranovic has started this season as a right-midfielder, but you’d expect he’ll rival Anthony Ralston to be first-choice right-back, should a move to Celtic get over the line as expected by The Daily Record.

Postecoglou only has Ralston and Lee O’Connor as right-back options at this moment in time, so a £3m deal for Juranovic appears to be a smart move at first glance as he has made over 100 appearances in that area.

It’s good to see that Juranovic will be capable of playing further forward if required, as he has shown in recent weeks, and it appears as if he’ll become Celtic’s eighth summer signing.

Ele comandou o time em quatro competições: Catarinense, Série B, Primeira Liga e Copa do Brasil.

West Ham fans delighted with Kral signing

A number of West Ham supporters are delighted that the Hammers are closing in on the loan signing of Spartak Moscow midfielder Alex Kral.

It has been an ideal start to the season for David Moyes’ side, who have picked up seven points from their opening three Premier League games.

Wins over Newcastle United and Leicester City were followed by Saturday’s draw with Crystal Palace, with some impressive football being played along the way.

It has been a hugely productive couple of days for the Hammers, with Nikola Vlasic signing from CSKA Moscow, adding even more quality in attacking areas, while Kurt Zouma arrived over the weekend.

Not only that, but a move for Kral is ‘90% done’ [via journalist Jason Burt on Twitter], with the defensive midfielder a promising 23-year-old with 22 caps to his name for the Czech Republic.

Ball drops verdict on "shock" Everton swoop

Michael Ball doubts Everton will make a move to sign striker Salomon Rondon in this transfer window.

The Toffees have been linked with a swoop to sign the former Newcastle United forward as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Rondon is still under contract with Chinese club DL Pro, but The Sun reports that he could well be released from his contract as they look to cut costs.

That could see the Venezuela international available on a free transfer, and has led to links with the Toffees.

New Everton boss Rafael Benitez worked with the striker at both DL Pro and Newcastle, and he has remained prolific in China, scoring 14 goals and laying on seven assists in 28 games.

Still, Ball does not think that a move to sign the 31-year-old is viable, due to his age.

During his spell in the Premier League under Benitez, Rondon scored 11 times in 32 games.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, Ball said: “Yeah, that was a shock one. A very surprise link, he’s over in China, I think, and obviously, he’s scoring goals, he’s 31, he’s got the experience of the Premier League.

“But is it a long-term one for the club? I don’t think that’s going to be one that’s going to get over the line.”
