The reported that Sutherland outlined the vision in his keynote speech at a Cricket Australia conference in Queensland on Tuesday.”While hosting Tests here, Australia could have its Twenty20 team touring somewhere else,” Sutherland said. “It is difficult not to see a generation of players coming through with an eye to becoming Twenty20 specialists. As more Twenty20 cricket is played there are clearly opportunities for players to choose to be specialists.”Taking it through to its natural extension, if you have a specialist team then why can’t you have a specialist Twenty20 team and a specialist Test team [playing] at the same time? In rugby union, for example, the ARU has a sevens team and a Wallabies team.”However, while such an idea might suit older players who retire from first-class cricket to pursue a Twenty20 career, such as Dirk Nannes, it could make for some tough choices for younger men. Steven Smith, for example, has made his name as a Twenty20 player but his Test hopes could be scuppered if such a concept was in place.

“I think ideally, Marcelo Bielsa would love to make a few new signings just to freshen up the squad right now. I think it’s going to be a frustrating one for Leeds. Maybe a Kennedy or Minamino on loan from Chelsea and Liverpool, respectively, would help boost Bielsa’s ranks.

“So, I’m sure Victor Orta and Bielsa are working hard on the transfer front to see if they can bring somebody in, but right now, you’re probably looking at loan deals rather than permanent ones.”

The Verdict: Seems unlikely

Any new signing now would feel like a huge bonus for Leeds, with the club surely completing any business they genuinely wanted by this point.

Someone like the heavily-linked Brenden Aaronson coming in from RB Salzburg would be ideal, given his reputation as a goalscoring midfielder, netting 10 times in 51 appearances for the Austrian champions.

It seems far more likely that Bielsa will have to get by between now and May as it is, however, battling on without key men such as Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford, both of whom are currently out injured.

Modi in his mail also asked for Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president, and N Srinivasan, the secretary, to recuse themselves from the entire procedure.Mehmood Abdi, a key member of Lalit Modi’s legal team, said on Wednesday that since both Manohar and Srinivasan were the subject of allegations made by Modi in the mail, they should not be a party to the board’s investigation process of the showcause notice served by the BCCI on April 26.”When the judge fails to recuse himself then the party has got to remind him that, firstly, there is a case of conflict of interest and I have got reasons to believe there is some bias or prejudice against him,” Abdi told Cricinfo.The 14-page mail has alleged, , that Manohar influenced the franchise bidding process in March this year and Srinivasan intervened in the player auction in January. Agora, com a ação do Fluminense, um grupo de desembargadores julgará e analisará a decisão do desembargador que concedeu o mandado de segurança a Gustavo Scarpa na última semana. Se a liminar for derrubada, o contrato do meia volta a ser válido com o Flu, assim como seus direitos ligados ao Tricolor.

Ainda não há definição da data para a decisão dos desembargadores.

O Palmeiras tenta evitar um maior imbróglio judicial e se proteger caso a liminar seja derrubada. Antes do anúncio oficial da contratação de Gustavo Scarpa, o presidente Maurício Galiiote entrou em contato com o presidente Pedro Abad para informar que tinha avançado na conversa com o meia, mas colocava-se a disposição para oferecer uma contra-partida ao Tricolor.

According to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the north London outfit are seeking a new option to bolster Mikel Arteta’s engine room before the deadline on January 31st and they have as many as three names on their shortlist.

“Arsenal are working to sign a new midfielder. Bruno Guimarães appreciated but currently not discussed as January target – deal too complicated, €45m fee,” he tweeted.

“Arthur Melo on loan has been discussed days ago – but still no talks/contacts with Juve. Three names in the list.”

This will come as exciting news to those around the Emirates Stadium as it is no secret that the Gunners desperately need reinforcements in the heart of midfield.

The north Londoners will be without Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny for the rest of the month as both players are competing at the Africa Cup of Nations, whilst Ainsley Maitland-Niles has completed a loan move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, so that leaves Arteta even more light on options.

“We are very, very short at the moment. We are going to move and look for options because we are very short there,” the 39-year-old revealed to reporters this week.

Indeed, he now only has Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga to call upon for that deeper role, with Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe capable of playing further forward.

An injury to any of these names could quickly curtail Arsenal’s progress this campaign as they find themselves firmly in the race for a top-four finish.

There is only a four-point gap to seventh place, so the Gunners cannot afford a slip-up and that’s why the club’s hierarchy must push ahead with plans to land a new midfielder this month.

It is certainly encouraging to see them being proactive – as Romano states, they are working to sign someone – so that should leave supporters absolutely buzzing.
