Leeds fans react to update on Jack Clarke’s illness

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Leeds fans have been reacting to an update on the fitness of Jack Clarke, who is set to return to outdoor training next week.

Clarke has been one of the most exciting parts of this exhilarating season at Elland Road, as the teenager looks more than capable of becoming a true Leeds great.

Born and raised in Yorkshire, it’s no surprise fans are very fond of the 18 year-old, and he has bagged two goals and two assists this season despite starting just four Championship games.

He was stretchered away from the sideline during the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough though, and fans were extremely worried over the youngster’s future.

According to Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post, the winger was suffering from a virus, and has been doing indoor gym work this week, before returning to outdoor training next week.

This will come as a huge relief to Marcelo Bielsa, who is already without Kemar Roofe for an estimated eight weeks due to a knee injury.

Tottenham fans react to reported interest in Max Aarons

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Tottenham fans have been reacting to the latest transfer links, as reports claim they are eyeing a move for Norwich youngster Max Aarons.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham will step up their interest in Aarons this summer.

The 19 year-old right back, who is versatile enough to play on the left if needs must, has been in sensational form for Norwich this season.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

The teenager has racked up three goals and four assists in all competitions, and the report claims Spurs are leading the chase for his signature ahead of London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Norwich have placed a £15m price tag on Aarons’ head in an attempt to ward off any potential suitors, but they will no doubt face a battle to keep him this summer.

Tottenham are of course in need of an upgrade at right-back with Serge Aurier still prone to careless mistakes and Kieran Trippier seemingly getting worse instead of better.

The English international would surely leave in search of regular playing time if Aarons joins to compete with Aurier, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Liverpool fans react as Firmino misses pre-Bayern training

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to a worrying piece of pre-Bayern news, as Roberto Firmino was absent from training on Monday.

Firmino did not participate in Liverpool training on Monday, reports The Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce.

The Brazilian international is suffering from a virus, per Pearce, and the Reds are sweating over his fitness for Tuesday night’s epic Champions League showdown.

Firmino has not been ruled out completely, but it seems very unlikely that he will be 100 per cent by Tuesday evening if he was unable to train on Monday.

With Virgil van Dijk suspended and Joe Gomez still out injured, that makes three Liverpool regulars that are expected to miss the game.

Of course, the last time Liverpool welcomed a European giant to Anfield without Firmino it was Daniel Sturridge who got the nod, and the striker bagged the opener in a 3-2 win over PSG.

Still, Liverpool fans are fearing the worst about facing one of Europe’s biggest and best teams without another star man, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Crystal Palace fans react after Jeffrey Schlupp wins the club’s Player of the Month award

[ad_pod ]

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jeffrey Schlupp was named as the club’s ‘Player of the Month’ for his performances throughout the month of February.

The Ghanaian international found himself on the score sheet twice last month, scoring vital goals against Fulham and Doncaster, the latter of which helped Palace into the FA Cup quarter-finals. The 26-year-old also recorded one assist, and won the penalty for Luka Milivojevic’s goal away to Leicester.

Schlupp beat Wilfried Zaha to the award by a slender 2% of the vote, which is testament to how well he has played recently, and is a fairly big shock given the fact that the Ivorian netted three goals in February.

The former Leicester man struggled earlier in the season playing on the left on a midfield three, but has grown into the role of late to become one of the first names on the teamsheet – his pace and energy adds a drive from midfield that James McArthur and Milivojevic lack.

Let’s take a look at how the Palace fans reacted to the news on Twitter…

Ralph Hasenhuttl reveals he’s struggling to find many flaws in Jan Bendarek’s game

[ad_pod ]Speaking in his Cardiff City pre-match press conference (9:20), Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted that he is struggling to find too many flaws in defender Jan Bednarek’s game right now.

What’s the word, then?

Well, despite only making the 18-man squad on three occasions and playing just 80 minutes in total in the Premier League this term when Mark Hughes was in charge, Bednarek has played the full 90 minutes in every top flight match since the arrival of the Austrian manager.

When asked about the defender’s progress prior to the crucial bottom-of-the-table clash against the Bluebirds at St Mary’s on Saturday, the 51-year-old told southamptonfc.com: “Today I was thinking about the deficits he has in his game, and I didn’t find a lot. That shows me how good he is doing until now.

“Maybe his building up the game can develop.”

Local BBC journalist Adam Blackmore revealed on his official Twitter account on Thursday that the squad is jetting off to Tenerife after this weekend for a training camp where they will be shown videos analysing their good and bad points, but from Hasenhuttl’s comments it appears as though the centre-back won’t have too many of the latter.

High praise for Bednarek then

It is indeed.

Considering he could barely make the squad under Hughes, it has been a remarkable turnaround for the Poland international, who has consistently been one of the south coast outfit’s best players over the course of the previous couple of months.

While he has been a colossus at the back and outshone many of his more experienced defensive teammates, the 22-year-old also proved that he is working hard to improve on his build-up play by providing the forward pass and assist for Nathan Redmond’s goal in the 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend.

The Missing Piece: Why Thomas Meunier would complete Everton’s team

[ad_pod ]

It is no secret that Everton have spent significant amounts of money strengthening their squad over the last couple of transfer windows.

Toffees boss Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have worked tirelessly to bring in big-money signings such as Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Richarlison, but all of their investment won’t have the desired effect unless they have balance within the starting XI.

What’s the problem?

Well, the Merseyside-based club don’t have many issues in terms of picking their strongest line-up, if you were to look at the players individually. In Jordan Pickford, Everton have England’s number one and a goalkeeper of real quality, who will only get better.

Be sure to check out the incredible story of the man who rose from a Tanzanian refugee camp to become one of Australia’s biggest football stars in the video below…

Ahead of him, they have an exquisite left-back in Digne who has scored three goals and recorded three assists already this season (via Whoscored), with Mina and Kurt Zouma next to him in defence. The duo of Idrissa Gueye and Andre Gomes make up the centre of midfield, whilst Ademola Lookman, Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison can run riot up top.

The real problem in the team comes at right-back, as Goodison Park icon Seamus Coleman, who has been at the club for almost a decade, appears to be declining as a footballer and in need of replacing. The Toffees’ supporters have not been happy on Twitter with how the Irishman has played at times this season, and they could do with a fresh face to replace the 30-year-old.

With that in mind, a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier would be ideal.

Why would Meunier fit into Silva’s plans?

The Belgian international is a player of real pedigree and class, playing a key role in his country’s third-place finish at the World Cup last summer with a goal and two assists from right-back, as per FIFA.com.

The 27-year-old is known for his ability to make an impact in the final third, and would mirror the output of Digne over on the other side of defence if he were to arrive at Goodison Park.

Meunier has scored four goals and recorded three assists in all competitions so far this season (via Whoscored), but has had to battle with Thilo Kehrer and Dani Alves for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s team – however he definitely deserves to be starting week in, week out.

Everton took advantage of a similar situation when they signed Digne in the summer, as the Frenchman wasn’t getting much game time at Barcelona despite being a great player, so perhaps they could swoop in and do the same with the Belgian.

Bielsa reportedly recommends Juan Carlos Osorio as his Leeds successor

[ad_pod ]

Marcelo Bielsa is clearly loving life at Leeds, but the boss has reportedly already lined up his successor.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Bielsa is planning to spend some time touring around Yorkshire before the Whites take on Bolton next weekend, and he sure looks unlikely to leave the club any time soon.

The enigmatic Argentine’s side currently sit at the summit of the Championship, one point clear of Norwich City, and it’s easy see why he has been an instant hit with the Leeds fans.

Still, while those fans may not want to think about what life will be like after Bielsa, the boss has reportedly already identified the right man to take over once he leaves.

According to Diario Expreso, via Sport Witness, Bielsa has recommended that Juan Carlos Osorio takes over when his contract ends.

Osario is good friends with the Leeds boss, and is perhaps best known for his three-year stint in charge of the Mexico national team, though the 57 year-old has also managed multiple club sides like New York Red Bulls and Sao Paulo.

Osario is about as experienced as they come, but could he fill Bielsa’s shoes? Only time will tell…

Big Debate: Are Leicester fans right to want Puel out?

[ad_pod ]

Claude Puel has come under increasing pressure at the King Power Stadium in recent weeks as the Leicester City fanbase have been growing tired of his side’s style of football and inconsistent results.

The Foxes are currently 11th in the Premier League table and have gone without a win in their last five games in all competitions – a run that includes having been knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two outfit Newport County.

The Foxes have been improved in recent weeks though and were good value for a hard-fought draw against title-chasers Liverpool.

Football FanCast’s Billy Meyers and Will Jones have debated whether or not Leicester fans are right to want the French manager out of their club.

Meyers: For

I would say that the Claude Puel situation at Leicester is a difficult one. For a start, the argument that the club is fulfilling expectations and that the fans can’t expect much more in terms of league position is a solid one.

The Foxes currently sit 11th, just six points off seventh where they were sat a few weeks back before a poor run of form set in, which is perhaps their ceiling right now and one that is definitely achievable.

The indoor football skills in the video below have to be seen to be believed…

Puel’s squad is too talented to go down, so perhaps he could have focused on the cup competitions a bit more to get the fans onside, which seems to be the main issue. The fans pay to see exciting, winning football, even more so at home, where Leicester have won just four times all season.

In that respect, they are right to want him out and I think he has already peaked with the Foxes. Although, they should keep him until a decent replacement becomes available.

Jones: Against

Leicester, and the club’s fans, should stick with Puel. The club are about where they should be right now, and all things considered, in what has been a trying season on and off the pitch, little more could realistically be expected from Puel’s side.

The former Southampton boss needs more time, and transfer windows, to make this squad his own. With that done, the Foxes can realistically look to force their way up the table a little. Leicester need stability right now, and Puel, whilst he may not be the most charismatic manager in the league, provides that.
