100%: Leeds fans want Adrian signed after West Ham release

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter have expressed that want the club to sign Adrian after his West Ham United contract expires.

The stopper is no longer the first choice at the London Stadium and he is therefore set to leave the club once his current deal comes to an end.

He has enjoyed six years at the London club where he has made 125 Premier League appearances.

The Whites have had real problems with their goalkeeper position in recent times. Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Kiko Casilla have both looked dodgy between the sticks this season.

Casilla’s performance against Derby at Elland Road in the playoff semi-final was disastrous, and he has been linked with a move away from the club.

Leeds are reportedly looking for a new keeper, and they could do a lot worse than signing Adrian on a free transfer.

The Spaniard would be one of the best goalies in the Championship and he would undoubtedly provide the best value for money as he can be picked up for nothing now that his contract with the Hammers is up.

Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter…

Why Liverpool’s snub of Maxi Gomez may be the right move for Klopp

[ad_pod ]

Maxi Gomez has been a target for many big clubs as of late and a recent Daily Star report further confirms this thesis, putting the young striker in the jaws of Tottenham Hotspur among the interest of some other clubs.

Spurs are reportedly leading the pack in the efforts to sign the talented Uruguayan but only partly because Liverpool have chosen to opt out of the brawl, which is an interesting turn of events in itself.

So what’s the word?

The latest report coming from the Daily Star claims that Tottenham Hotspur are now leading in the race for the Celta Vigo ace after Liverpool chose to back away.

Gomez has impressively bagged 13 goals and provided five assists in the 2018/19 campaign and his £43m release clause might be his ticket into the Premier League.

While Spurs could really use a striker of Gomez’s credentials and talent, the Reds might have made a real statement following their bold choice of dropping the pursuit altogether.

Right call from Liverpool

It seems that Gomez would join Tottenham purely as a Harry Kane’s substitution and, of course, a bet for the future once he develops enough to warrant a better position within the squad. Liverpool, on the hand, might also have made the right call by opting out of this race.

Gomez is definitely a gem worth polishing and one that almost any big team could use but Jurgen Klopp might not need that at the moment. What he could probably use more is a well-rounded forward with enough experience and skill to either replicate or complement the impact of Roberto Firmino.

Chasing young starlets is a great way to bank on the future but Liverpool would profit more from a developed striker that gives established quality right here and right now, especially considering the Reds only need a piece or two to fully complete the jigsaw and push Man City even closer next season.

After all, they are not among the biggest spenders in the Premier League and they often choose their targets rather carefully. Rushing into a transfer scramble with Spurs, for a player who still needs some time to develop, doesn’t do anybody on Merseyside any favours.

Sell to the highest bidder: Leicester fans unconcerned about possible Maguire departure

[ad_pod ]Harry Maguire has had an excellent couple of seasons since joining Leicester and he’s quickly become one of the most highly rated defenders in the Premier League. As a result, he’s now reportedly taken the interest of Manchester City who could hijack Manchester United’s plans to sign the 26-year-old, per The Daily Mail.Traditionally, football fans would be concerned about losing one of their star players. However, that isn’t the case with a selection of Leicester supporters who, bearing in mind a potential £75m price tag,Âwere keen to see him leave.Reacting to the news on Twitter, one fan said he’d drive Maguire to City himself, claiming it would fund most of the Foxes’ summer spending. Two further supporters chose to focus on the fact that Leicester had plenty of cover for the centre-back, hinting Filip Benkovic and Caglar Soyuncu could come into the team as replacements.Maguire was exceptional for England at the World Cup last summer but his performance levels dropped slightly during the course of the 2018/19 campaign.

In total, he played in 31 Premier League matches this term.

Here’s the best of the debate.

Transfer Focus: Southampton agree deal for Moussa Djenepo

[ad_pod ]

On Wednesday morning, Sky Sports broke the news that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton have agreed a deal to sign speedy Standard Liege winger Moussa Djenepo.

What’s the word, then?

No fee was reported by the outlet but what we do know is that the 20-year-old will undergo a medical in Paris next week and should obtain his work permit in the next seven days.

Djenepo is a quick, tricky winger whose preferred position is out on the left flank but can play anywhere across the attack.

The starlet comes from the humble beginnings of Yeelen Olympique in his native Mali and made the big move to Europe in early summer 2017, not looking back since and now seemingly earning himself a switch to the promised land of the Premier League. He has been capped eight times by the Mali national team.

What Djenepo needs to become a Hasenhuttl winger

Djenepo can’t afford to think that he’s made it now by getting such a huge transfer and needs to work hard on a number of facets of his game to avoid becoming the next Mohamed Elyounoussi.

He arrives to a demanding manager on the south coast and one who will be hoping he’s of the standard to replace Elyounoussi, who endured a disastrous first campaign after arriving last summer.

Very much in the same way that Nathan Redmond has transformed since Hasenhutt’s arrival at St. Mary’s, Djenepo will need to evolve to the Austrian’s way of playing.

Who has been your club’s unsung hero the season? Fans nominate theirs in the video below…

The modern gaffer will want the former UEFA Europa League star to get quicker and learn to press the ball high out on the flanks with aggression. The attacker also must work on his goal tally as he’ll be expected to score more than seven league goals next campaign.

However, if he can do the right things and follow in the footsteps of Redmond in reaching that next level, there’s no reason why Djenepo shouldn’t blossom with the Saints and avoid flopping in Eyounoussi fashion, taking the Premier League by storm.

Liverpool fans take to Twitter in hysterics as Carragher trolls Neville

[ad_pod ]

Over the last few years, we’ve all come to love the relationship that’s developed between Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville. Both Liverpool and Manchester United fans love seeing the pair take turns to troll each other, and in the aftermath of Liverpool’s sixth Champions League crown, Carragher has produced a gem at the expense of the former Old Trafford skipper.

As one Liverpool supporter decided to take it upon himself to aim a dig at Neville, producing a ‘missing person’ mock poster of the Manchester United supporting pundit, Carragher added to it in brilliant style.

As you can imagine, this has gone down very well with the Anfield faithful, and as if seeing their side lift the Champions League trophy wasn’t enough for them, watching a former Manchester United captain squirm as Carragher no doubt lauds his side’s brilliance makes amazing viewing.

This will no doubt continue into next season when Monday Night Football returns, giving the Reds just another reason to be excited about the 2019/20 campaign.

You can see the Reds’ reaction to Carragher’s tweet here:

"Delete this" – Arsenal fans annoyed by star striker’s latest tweet

[ad_pod ]

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has antagonized sections of the Arsenal support on Twitter after welcoming new Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic to the Premier League with a heartfelt message.

The two attackers struck up a dynamic partnership during a shared spell at Borussia Dortmund, overlapping at the Signal Iduna Park from 2016 until January 2018 when Aubameyang departed the Bundesliga for Arsenal.

Pulisic signed for Chelsea in January 2019 but finished the season at Dortmund before joining the Blues in London, reuniting the two players in England, albeit for arch-rival clubs.

Aubameyang has enjoyed a stunning first full season at the Emirates, notching 22 Premier League goals to share the golden boot with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Despite Aubameyang’s goalscoring exploits, Arsenal still failed to finish in the top four and must win the Europa League final against Chelsea on May 29 to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

With the Gunners’ biggest game of the season against Chelsea on the horizon, many Arsenal fans were not amused by their star striker’s words of encouragement for the Blues’ newest recruit.

Arsenal: Unai Emery should be doing all he can to sign Yannick Carrasco

Watching Arsenal attempting to sign a winger last January was one of the most amusing transfer sagas of the window.

From trying to sign Ivan Perisic on loan to end up getting Denis Suarez was truly entertaining for neutrals as Arsenal signed a player who only played just over an hour of football come the end of the season, but there was one other name in the mix for the majority of the winter window.

Former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco was a surprise name to be linked with a move to north London, with the now Dalian Yifang attacker seemingly open with a move back to Europe after a year in China, but nevertheless, a move failed to materialise, but recent comments have perked up Arsenal fans and Unai Emery.

Speaking to the Sun, Carrasco admitted that Arsenal did make a move for him in January and he is ready to move back to Europe after struggling to adapt to life in China and that the Premier League is an ideal destination for the Belgian international.

Arsenal are in need of a winger this summer with Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan the club’s only natural wide players and both wingers not exactly being the quality Emery wants, and because of this, Carrasco should be a major priority.

The winger has been in good form this season in the Chinese Super League, scoring seven and assisting another in the first nine games of the 2019 campaign, and with Dalian Yifang likely to cash in on Carrasco after these recent comments, Arsenal need to move in quick if they are to secure the signature of a player who has what it takes to flourish in north London.

Arsenal fans, will Carrasco be a good summer signing? Let us know!

Performance in Numbers: Liam Lindsay ideal signing for West Brom’s new manager

[ad_pod ]

Ahead of what is a huge summer for West Brom, they could be left staring down the barrel of a mass exodus.

Technical Director Luke Dowling has already revealed that a number of players may have to leave in order to cut back on their wage bill.

Among those to go through the exit door could be two defenders. Craig Dawson has already been the subject of a report linking him with Burnley whilst they could also lose Kieran Gibbs.

Despite the options they’ve had in defence they still weren’t particularly solid last season but there is a player who could be capable of solving that issue.

Last week The Scottish Sun claimed that West Brom were showing an interest in Barnsley defender Liam Lindsay.

The Scot has been a rock for the Tykes and although playing in League One last term, he could be the perfect man to solve a number of problems.

Firstly, he could put whoever becomes the new manager at the Hawthorns instantly in supporters’ good books, especially judging by his first season in the Championship.

During the 2017/18 campaign, a season where the Reds were relegated, the 23-year-old was particularly solid.

Defending for large parts of each match, his reading of the play was impressive. On average, he made 1.5 interceptions.

In comparison, no other West Brom centre-back made more during the 2018/19 season.

Lindsay’s no-nonsense nature is one aspect that stands out above anything else. He made six clearances per match whilst also winning 4.5 aerial duels during his debut campaign in England.

Both stats come close to arguably Albion’s best defender, Ahmed Hegazi.

Assessing his statistical data from the last time he played in the Championship, it’s clear he’d be an astute signing, especially judging by how he matches up against those already at the club.

Watch fans explain why the Football League is better than the Premier League in the video below…

Should he arrive, there’s a case to be made for him being central to the new manager’s rebuild.

It may not be a signing to rave about, but adding individuals of this quality will be imperative in proving that they can recruit players for the level of football they now play in.

After their poor business in the January transfer window, landing a centre-back like Lindsay could go a long way to proving to supporters that the new manager actually knows what he’s doing.

Chicharito sets sights on Spain return with West Ham exit looming

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez wants to return to Spain this summer, per Marca.

What’s the word?

The Mexico international scored eight goals in 28 appearances in all competitions in 2018-19.

But Football FanCast understands that he has been placed up for sale this summer, with Manuel Pellegrini looking to conduct an overhaul of his forward options.

And Marca now claim that Chicharito, who spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Real Madrid, is now hoping to move back to La Liga.

Valencia, FFC understands, were interested in securing Hernandez’s signature in January but were unable to reach an agreement with the Hammers or the player.

Marca report that his wages, which total €4million-per-year, are a major stumbling block to any move, with most La Liga clubs unable to pay such a sum.

Another forcing a move

Hernandez will find first-team options even harder to come by next season.

The Irons are hopeful of signing a striker this summer, with Aleksandar Mitrovic at Fulham a major target. Salomon Rondon, the West Brom striker with a £16.5m release clause, has also been linked.

It is perhaps little surprise, then, that he is following in the footsteps of Marko Arnautovic by actively seeking a move; the Austria international tried to seal a move to China in January but ended up signing a new contract.

But he will have to ensure that he lowers his expectations for a move to come off.

Hernandez could not agree a move to Valencia in January despite discussing terms.

He needs to ensure that he adds a little humility to his demands for the transfer to happen.
