West Ham fans disappointed with Gary Medel link

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United fans are not happy with a new link to veteran midfielder Gary Medel.

Hammers insider Ex-West Ham United Employee claims that the Hammers are “keen” on the Chile international.

Medel is 31 and has some Premier League experience, having played for Cardiff City in the 2013-14 season as they were relegated to the Championship.

He made a total of 34 Premier League appearances but did not score a goal, while providing one assist.

Medel has since spent three years with Serie A giants Inter Milan as well as two years at Turkish club Besiktas.

Nevertheless, Hammers fans are not happy with the idea of acquiring Medel in this transfer window, even with Pedro Obiang nearing a departure to Serie A.

Norwich City: Canaries hoping to agree fee for Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes

Norwich City are hoping to agree on a fee with Sheffield Wednesday for striker Jordan Rhodes, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

[ad_pod ]

The Yorkshire club are hoping to fetch a sizable fee for the Scotland international, though £4m is thought to be a reasonable compromise, according to Nixon.

Rhodes was an unused substitute as Sheffield Wednesday opened the new Championship season with a 3-1 win over Reading.

Links with the Sheffield Wednesday man fail to go away, with the Canaries having been linked with a move for the 29-year-old last week. Rhodes was on loan with Norwich City last season, making more than 30 appearances as the Norfolk club won promotion to the Premier League. The striker managed to score nine goals in England’s second tier.

However, Norwich City seemed to have filled the void left by Rhodes who returned to Sheffield Wednesday this summer, with the acquisition of Josip Drmic from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Switzerland international seems to have hit the ground running as he notched up a ‘perfect’ hat-trick in the pre-season friendly against Luton Town.

The Norfolk club have also added Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts on loan, adding depth to the squad ahead of the new season.

Ultimately, with the signings of both Drmic and Roberts, Norwich City have two players in each attacking position of the 4-2-3-1 formation Farke prefers. The squad has the depth required to try and avoid relegation this upcoming season, making a move for Rhodes pointless.

Norwich fans, does Farke need Rhodes for the 2019/20 campaign? Comment below!

Newcastle fans react as Emil Krafth becomes their latest summer signing

[ad_pod ]

Newcastle’s deadline day began with the news that Jacob Murphy could depart on loan to Sheffield Wednesday but it has since sprung to life with the arrival of a new body.

Through the doors of St James’ Park has walked right-back Emil Krafth who arrives from Amiens.

The Sweden international has put pen to paper on a four-year contract, becoming their latest permanent addition after Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin were also snapped up.

However, his arrival has caused mixed reactions from the Toon Army who were quick to respond to their new signing on Twitter.

One fan joked that he was the Swedish Cafu whilst another said he looked like a big lad.

The 25-year-old also caused a bit of a stir. A further supporter said signings like this one was why they’d end up playing in the Championship next season. One bemoaned the addition, saying they needed a striker instead.

Krafth arrives for a reported fee of £5m and has been capped 20 times by his country. The defender also appeared at the 2018 World Cup and was in action against England in the quarter-final.

Here’s the best of the reaction.

Wolves can put less strain on Jimenez if they land Joelinton

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to a report from German publication Kicker, Wolves are showing an interest in Hoffenheim forward Joelinton.

What’s the word?

Wolves have been extremely slow on the transfer front this summer with no new arrivals walking through the doors of Molineux as of yet.

There have been departures with Helder Costa leaving for Leeds whilst managing director Laurie Dalrymple has even been sacked.

However, there could finally be some movement in terms of incomings after their interest in Joelinton was revealed by Kicker.

The 22-year-old has also attracted the interest of Newcastle this summer too with multiple reports claiming they were eyeing up a deal.

Earlier this summer, The Mirror suggested he could cost the Magpies £30m but The Northern Echo have reported it might actually be in the region of £40m.

Jimenez burnout

Raul Jimenez has recently just concluded an arduous season which climaxed with victory for Mexico in the Gold Cup final.

Nuno Santo has already admitted that he’ll have two weeks off after his spell away on international duty, saying it would be a big mistake to rush him back.

After all, Jimenez featured 44 times last term for Wolves, as well as playing his part for his country in recent weeks.

And with that in mind, the Midlands club are likely to need someone to take the strain off of him, particularly with a season in the Europa League looming.

That player could well be Joelinton.

Like his potential new teammate, the Hoffenheim forward is excellent both in front of goal and at providing opportunities for his teammates.

The Brazilian scored six fewer goals than Jimenez but he managed nine assists in less matches. The Mexican laid on eight.

So with that in mind, he seems like the perfect player to lessen the burden of their 17-goal man from last season.

In the video below, find out which former Chelsea star could be set to challenge Raul Jimenez as top dog at Wolves…

Joelinton appears to be an exciting and dynamic forward, winning 2.3 aerial duels per game in 2018/19, as well as completing 1.7 dribbles every 90 minutes.

A potential price tag of between £30m-£40m sounds alarming, but considering his record in the Bundesliga last season and his age, he could be a worthwhile investment.

If it helps to reduce burnout on one of the star men as well, it would be a smart decision to sign him.

Leeds United fans hate the idea of selling Kemar Roofe to Rangers for £5m

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe is top of Rangers’ transfer wish list to replace the potentially departing Alfredo Morelos, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The paper say that the Colombian is nearing a £10m exit and Director of Football Mark Allen has identified Roofe as the best option, with the player said to be available for £5m.

Pl>ymaker FC’s Theo Ogden found two rebelious Leeds fans in the home end at Loftus Road in QPR’s 2-1 FA Cup win. Find out what happened next in the video below…

Roofe ended last season as Leeds’ top goalscorer, finding the net on 15 occasions as Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit narrowly missed out on promotion to the top-flight following defeat to Derby County in the play-off semi-finals.

If Leeds are to embark on another bid to goup next season then they’ll need to keep their best players and the 26-year-old certainly falls into that category.

However, with less than a year left on his contract there are business realities when it comes to a potential departure, with this transfer window perhaps one of the last opportunities to cash in on the player.

Leeds fans don’t want to see him leave on the cheap though, with many taking to Twitter over the last 48 hours to share their thoughts…

Newcastle target Joelinton has received glowing endorsements

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Expert Roundup feature, which provides three quotes from those in the know in order to illuminate fundamental strengths, weaknesses, quirks, kinks, stylistic comparisons and general observations of transfer targets and confirmed signings.

According to a report published by The Daily Mirror last week, Newcastle could be set to smash their club-record transfer fee with a £36m deal for Hoffenheim striker Joelinton.

With Salomon Rondon having sealed a reunion with Rafael Benitez at Dalian Yifang, Joselu sealing a switch to Alaves and Ayoze Perez moving to Leicester City for an eye-watering £30m, the Magpies are short of options up front.

The Northern Echo understand that newly-appointed Steve Bruce will look to bring in another hitman even after the Joelinton deal is concluded.

Attacking reinforcements are clearly high on the agenda for the former Sheffield Wednesday boss and the addition of Joelinton, who chalked up 11 goals and nine assists for Die Kraichgauer last term, will add some serious firepower to a thin front line.

But what can the potential new signing offer? Here’s what those in the know have had to say about the Brazilian attacker.

Julian Nagelsmann, former Hoffenheim manager

Nagelsmann cites Joelinton’s loan spell with Rapid Vienna as a crucial part of the Alianca-born star’s development:

“Joelinton was always very talented, but he’s developed a lot during his time in Austria. He’s a big guy and is awkward to defend against. He’s very inquisitive and able to learn. He’s become a very good player – he’s a machine!”

At 22 years old the tall striker has plenty of room to grow and continue his development.

Should he hit the ground running in England, Mike Ashley could stand to make a sizeable profit further down the line.

Just one good season in the top flight is often enough to secure a big money move to one of the top clubs – see Aaron Wan-Bissaka – and Joelinton may well see St James’ Park as the perfect environment to hone his skills.

As Nagelsmann says, Joelinton makes life very difficult for opposition defenders and doesn’t have to be on the ball to do so, as his return of 1.3 tackles per game last season suggests he’s willing to press high up the pitch.

Steffen Hofmann, former teammate

Retired Rapid Vienna midfielder Hofmann saw enough of Joelinton in their two years as teammates to be convinced that the youngster will go on to achieve greatness:

“We all knew about his potential at Rapid. He worked so hard for the team. Some said he didn’t score enough goals, but for us it was more important to have him in attack, holding the ball up, creating chances. He’s as strong as an ox and very good technically. If he keeps going as he is, he’ll be playing for Brazil before long.”

Indeed, the 6 foot 1 forward is as adept at creating chances for others as he is at scoring them himself, as evidenced by an impressive 1.5 key passes per game last season according to WhoScored, while his 1.7 dribbles per game also belie his size.

The presence of a striker who can bully defenders while also making good use of the ball at his feet will undoubtedly be an invaluable asset for Bruce to utilise next season.

Lutz Pfannenstiel, former Hoffenheim board member

The former goalkeeper was full of praise for the latest graduate of Hoffenheim’s Brazilian youth program:

“Now he is used to European football, he is unbelievable. He is as strong as an ox, good in the air and he holds the ball well. He is a modern target striker. Not just a big man up front to hit balls up to. He has this Brazilian flair too, he is technically neat, he can take players on, as well as being fast and physical. He has everything to be a top player.”

Having introduced stars such as Luiz Gustavo, Carlos Eduardo and, most notably, Roberto Firmino, the Bundesliga outfit have a knack for unearthing top South American talents and Joelinton promises to be the next success story, according to Pfannenstiel.

The 46-year-old, like Nagelsmann, sees the Newcastle target as an extremely well-rounded attacker.

The truly frightening aspect is that he hasn’t even reached the peak of his powers yet.

Where better for the rising star to reach his potential than in the Premier League, the same league that has provided the platform for Firmino to establish himself as a crucial player in one of the best teams in world football.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford shares hilarious Instagram snap with the team

[ad_pod ]

The Red Devils are very much enjoying their stay in Singapore.

After finishing their two pre-season friendlies in Australia, Manchester United have landed in Singapore where they faced Inter Milan and also snatched another victory in the process.

A 1-0 game that looked close on paper was very much the opposite on the pitch, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops dominated the Italian side from start to finish, impressing their boss and the fans along the way.

Would any current Man Utd players get into Fergie’s double-winning side of 2008, featuring the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez? One fan thinks so in the video below…

And the team seem to be in great spirits as well, if their latest social media activity is anything to go by.

Marcus Rashford shared a hilarious

/B0MCml6nH2n/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram snap with Joel Pereira, Martial and Marcos Rojo as the Red Devils seemed to be singing a cappella and having lots of fun.

The snap had his teammates and fans in tears as Pereira commented with a series of emojis.

As for Rashford, after penning a brand new contract with Manchester United not so long ago, the young forward will be looking to improve on last season’s numbers.

In 2018/19, he played a total of 47 games, scoring 13 and assisting nine goals in the process.

Axel Tuanzebe’s career at Manchester United is at a crossroads

[ad_pod ]

Losing to a fellow ‘big-six’ rival is never great news, but when Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in May 2017, a silver lining seemed to emerge for the Red Devils.

Then only 19, Axel Tuanzebe was handed a surprise start in an unfamiliar right-back role and came up against the talismanic Alexis Sanchez. Despite not being able to prevent his side’s defeat, his performance was singled out for some glowing praise by Jose Mourinho.

The then United boss said: “I think he did an amazing job and I think Alexis knows his name because the kid played very well.”

Watch Manchester United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Two years later however, Tuanzebe hasn’t quite seen his United career kick on, and amidst the club’s big-money pursuit of Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire, this summer feels all the more pivotal for the young defender.

Make or break

Despite enjoying a rather impressive campaign on loan at Aston Villa last season, which culminated in the side earning promotion to the Premier League, there appears to be no guarantees that Tuanzebe will be plying his trade at Old Trafford for the upcoming year.

Indeed, The Telegraph claim that whilst the 21-year-old will be given a chance on the Red Devils’ pre-season tour, Villa are waiting in the wings to see if he will be made available for loan again.

If United are successful in their chase to sign Maguire, then Tuanzebe will likely fall even lower down the pecking order. The Englishman is already seemingly behind the likes of Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and even Marcos Rojo, and the arrival of another centre-back would be a massive blow.

Despite signing a new and improved contract this summer, Solskjaer’s comments left little to believe Tuanzebe might be given a legitimate chance at playing in the first-team next year.

The Norwegian simply said: “He had a successful time on loan with Aston Villa and has gained a lot of experience from that spell, which ended in promotion to the Premier League. He will come on the pre-season tour with us which will help his development further.”

So whilst he might only be 21, Tuanzebe will likely need to produce some exemplary performances over the course of the summer in order to force himself into his manager’s thinking. If not, another year on loan would see him be out of sight and out of mind. And in this cut-throat world of instant success, his time at United may already be over.
