Newcastle United have made an offer for Malaysian wonder kid Luqman Hakim, according to Arena (via NUFC Blog).

According to The Guardian, the 18-year old was on the list of ‘top 60 young footballers of 2019’ last year and has been tipped to make the move to Europe in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Hakim secured a deal of five years with Belgian first division team K.V. Kortrijk last year, which is owned by Vincent Tan, who English football fans will also recall is the owner of Cardiff City.

He graduated from a football development programme in Malaysia and seemed to graduate with flying colours, and was going to be rewarded by being able to train with Cardiff until he turned 18 in March earlier in this year.

However, that arrangement was postponed, and thus he has been playing with Malaysian giants FA Selangor instead.

Lionel Foy is the agent of the prospect and has claimed there are lots of teams in the Premier League interested in securing the signature of the striker, however, it is not known yet if he would be allowed to be given a work permit first that would allow him to play in the English top flight.

Nevertheless, if the Magpies’ offer for Hakim is accepted by his club, then it could possibly be a sign that the proposed takeover at St. James’ Park will go through.

Given his strong connections in Asia with Malaysia, the youngster could attract more supporters from that part of the world, and could be an incentive for the Saudis especially to push through their £300 million bid.

Only time will tell whether their deal with Mike Ashley goes through, but if it does, Hakim could be a catalyst for that given his Asian connections.

Newcastle United’s prospective £300m takeover has been a long and drawn-out process and it appears as if it is still quite some way off from being resolved.Premier League CEO Richard Masters didn’t give much away when asked about the current situation during an interview with Sky Sports’ Bryan Swanson but he did hint towards ‘timing’ not being an issue – meaning this is surely set to rumble on.And Keith Downie has responded on Twitter, questioning previous reports that have suggested the takeover being given the ‘green light’ in recent weeks.He said:

Downie believes that there is still plenty of work to be done and given it has taken nearly two months already, the Magpies faithful are going to be far from pleased with the news.

The Premier League have also had to deal with ‘Project Restart’ and following their announcement that the season will resume in mid-June, it is hoped that their focus can now be put towards approving the takeover.

Former Leeds United forward Noel Whelan has tipped his old club to move for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard, in an interview with Football Insider.

What did he say?

Edouard has bagged 22 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, with Arsenal and Everton linked with a move for the Frenchman last month.

However, following the news that the Qatar Sport Investment (QSI) group could be interested in investing in the club, Whelan has said that Edouard should be a potential target for the Elland Road club.

Any move for Edouard would likely depend on Leeds securing promotion to the Premier League, but the 22-year-old appears open to a move after stalling talks over a new contract.

Speaking in an interview with Football Insider, Whelan said: “You would hope we get new investment and the money from the Premier League.

“Then it is a case of spending money in the right areas and a goalscorer is one you are going to have to part a lot of money with, unfortunately. We need to give ourselves every opportunity.

“We need players that will make a difference. I would be looking at the Celtic striker – Edouard if we are going up. Is he available and if he is, let’s bring him in. For £30million that would be a great buy and I can see it.

“Someone like him or Mitrovic or both! But maybe that is greedy!”

Choice to make

Edouard has impressed a number of clubs this season with his form for Celtic and at 22 years of age, it is hoped he could develop even further.

With Arsenal, Everton and others said to be interested, it may be difficult for Leeds to strike a deal, although investment from QSI could prove a game-changer.

Of course, Leeds will need to secure promotion back to the Premier League for any deal to happen and with the season suspended, this is somewhat in doubt.

وأوضحت أن السبب في ذلك يعود إلى استبدال أوزيل بشكل متكرر في مباريات الموسم الحالي من بطولة الدوري التركي، 2021/22.

وأشارت إلى أن أوزيل لم يخض أي مباراة لمدة 90 دقيقة هذا الموسم حتى الآن، حيث بدأ أول 3 مباريات دون استكمالها، بينما بدأ كبديل في آخر لقاء ضد أنطاليا سبور.

وأفادت الصحيفة أن مدرب فناربخشة فيتور بيريرا منح الأولوية للاعب محمد جوموسكايا على أوزيل في الموسم الحالي.

ووفقًا للصحيفة نفسها، فإن أوزيل ليس سعيدًا جراء ما يحدث، مما يؤجج التكهنات التي تشير إلى إمكانية رحيله مطلع العام الجديد، 2022.

ويُزعم أن هناك احتمالية رحيل اللاعب الألماني إلى الدوري الأمريكي في يناير القادم، أو ربما الدوري القطري، حيث أدت زيارة صاحب الـ32 عامًا إلى قطر مؤخرًا لتكثيف حدة التكهنات.

While it was a campaign of mostly ups though, there were a couple of nervy moments, and none more so than penalty-gate, which came during the win against Burton Albion.

Referee Keith Stroud ruled that Dwight Gayle had encroached while Ritchie tucked home the penalty, awarding a free-kick to the Brewers. However, the laws stated that a free-kick is given only if the penalty is missed and the spot-kick should actually have been retaken, via Sky Sports, as the referee was later forced to apologise.

The match ended all smiles for the Toon Army as Ritchie scored a second-half winner, but that hasn’t stopped fans from once again unleashing their fury on the referee’s mistake.

Things were looking up for Everton prior to the suspension of football in March after a small renaissance under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Appointed in December, the Italian helped the Toffees climb away from the bottom three and up towards mid-table, just six points adrift of sixth-place and a European spot.

Since his arrival, Everton have won five of their last 11 matches and while improvements are still needed, they have picked up more points than they did in Marco Silva’s spell between August and December.

The likes of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have made notable improvements under the Italian, while Mason Holgate has seen an increase in game time.

The break will have also allowed Andre Gomes to get back to somewhere like full fitness, which should prove a huge bonus.

Fortress Goodison

While this has certainly been a tough year for the Toffees, their home record remains strong.

With 14 matches played, Everton have won seven times at Goodison Park and lost just three times, meaning that in the home league table they sit seventh.

Defensive issues

Defence has definitely been a weakness for Everton this term, with a number of their big name players failing to perform at their best.

In 29 matches, the Toffees have conceded 46 goals and have the sixth-worst defensive record in the league, something Ancelotti will be desperate to change.

Paying the penalty

Everton are one of two Premier League clubs that are yet to score a penalty this season, alongside Newcastle United.

However, what makes them even more unique is that they have not actually been awarded a penalty in the league this season.

Why this has happened is difficult to explain, but certainly compared to Manchester United, who have been awarded 10, there is a big difference.

Over Reliance

While the continued excellent form of Richarlison and the rapid development of Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been pleasing, the lack of goals from elsewhere must be a real concern.

Aside from the two forwards, no player has managed more than three league goals this term, while only two other players have scored more than once.

Of Everton’s 37 league goals, 23 have been scored by Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin.

Full-back attack

The full-back combination of Lucas Digne and Djibril Sidibe has certainly been one of the club’s strong points this season and in attack especially, they have been devastating.

So far, the two have provided nine league assists, while they are the two single most common assist providers in the squad with five and four respectively.

Aerial strength

With Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina leading the way, Everton have won the third most aerial duels per match this season.

Averaging 22.9 successful duels-per-match, only Burnley and Sheffield United have won more, while Calvert-Lewin and Mina have won 4.9 and 4.2 per-match respectively.

As 32 equipes serão divididas em oito grupos com quatro clubes em cada chave, como era o formato da Copa do Mundo até 2022. Os dois melhores times de cada chave avançam para as oitavas de final após os três jogos da fase de grupos.

A fase de mata-mata será disputada em confrontos únicos até que os dois finalistas se encontrem na decisão em busca do troféu. Não haverá disputa de 3º lugar no torneio, como havia no antigo formato do Mundial de Clubes.

أكد مدرب فريق ليفربول يورجن كلوب معارضته التامة لفكرة إقامة بطولة كأس العالم كل عامين بدلًا من أربعة سنوات، وهو الاقتراح الذي قدمه آرسين فينجر.

وكان فينجر، مدير لجنة التطوير في الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم، قد اقترح مؤخرًا فكرة تغيير نظام كأس العالم بحيث يُقام كل عامين بدلًا من أربعة.

والتقى المدرب التاريخي لفريق آرسنال، آرسين فينجر مع يورجن كلوب الشهر الماضي، حيث تناقشا في عدة أمور، من ضمنها الاقتراح المذكور سلفًا.

وقال كلوب في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية: “عادة ما تظل هذه الأشياء خاصة، لكن يجب أن أقول كل هذه الأشياء باستمرار عن المزيد من المباريات وأشياء من هذا القبيل”.

وأضاف: “كان هناك شيئان أخبرني بهما فينجر، بصرف النظر عن كل الأشياء اللطيفة التي تحدثنا عنها حيث لدينا علاقة رائعة، أخبرني بفكرة إقامة كأس العالم كل عامين، وأخبرته على الفور أن ذلك يعني المزيد من المباريات ومن ثم لا توجد فرصة لذلك، هذا ليس بالأمر الصائب”.

وأضاف: “أما الأمر الآخر فيتمثل في تقليل عدد فترات التوقف الدولي، وزيادة مدة الفترة الواحدة، بمعنى في أكتوبر على سبيل المثال لن يخوض اللاعبون أي مباريات مع الأندية، مقابل خوضهم خمس أو ست مباريات مع المنتخبات الوطنية، لا أعرف! لم أفهم ذلك بنسبة 100 %”.

وواصل: “أعلم أنهم أرادوا وضع جميع المباريات الدولية في فترة توقف أكتوبر، ثم عدم وجود أي راحة دولية حتى شهر ديسمبر أو أي شهر آخر، هذه الفكرة يمكننا التحدث عنها ولكن لا أعتقد أنها ستغير عالم كرة القدم”.

وأردف: “أما بالنسبة لفكرة إقامة كأس العالم كل عامين، لا يمكنني أن أؤيدها، لأنني أعتقد أننا نلعب بالفعل الكثير من المباريات، أين هو الموسم التحضيري المعتاد قديمًا مع عدم وجود أي بطولة صيفية في الوقت نفسه؟!”.

واستكمل: “لكنهم سيقولون بعد ذلك أن الأندية ستخوض بطولات صيفية من أجل الاستعداد، هي لقاءات معدودة ولكنها مفيدة بكل تأكيد، سابقًا كان لدى الفريق موسمًا تمهيديًا لمدة ستة أو سبعة أسابيع”.

واختتم: “لاعبو كرة القدم يلعبون طوال العام، لديهم إجازة فقط لمدة أسبوعين ثم يلعبون مرة أخرى، هذه هي كرة القدم، كيف تريد تحسين اللعبة بتلك الطريقة؟ لا يمكن فعل ذلك، أنت فقط تقول ولكن لا أحد يستمع، لذلك ليس من المنطقي التحدث كثيرًا عن ذلك”.
